Excerpt: I bought two of the Vivitar-vivicam 8018 digital camera's for my two younger daughters for christmas this year. They both were so excited to get a "real " digital camera that was their very own. That is where the "good" stuff ends. ! My children tore open the christmas camera package and eageraly waited for their daddy to cut open the plastic around the camera. After installing the batteries (of course they were NOT included) the girls wanted to start taking...
Excerpt: This digital camera is about 8 megapixels. The only thing i dislike about it is that it doesnt save the megapixel setting after you turn it off. It goes to a defaut of 3 megapixels everytime and you have to go into mode and change it everytime. Another thing is that it uses those tripple a batteries fast when you have the flash on and using it.
Summary: Not even 10 months old. Paid WAY too much from CVS (80.00) in Denver b/c I forgot to pack my camera. This piece of junk does not zoom at all. EVERYTHING is fuzzy, all pics. Terrible colors, terrible pics, would NEVER buy vivtar again.
Summary: This is an awful camera. It has a fixed focal length that appears to be set at about 3 feet for optimal focus. So ANY picture outside that range is blurry. It has an auto focus feature that tries to work but doesn't. It WILL however focus on glass, so if you take a picture through a window, it will take razor sharp pictures... of the window. Menus are hard to use and inconsistent in function.
Summary: This camera isn't bad. I thought it was a terrible camera at first though, until I went into the camera settings and realized that it defaults to the lowest resolution (to save room on your SD Card). So, I changed the quality to 8.1 MP and it takes great pictures. Not Blurry, they print well. I'm happy.
Excerpt: The week of Dec. 5th through the 11th, 2010 Walgreens had this little camera on sale for $39.99. I wanted something less expensive than my Kodak Z-612 to take along on bicycle outings. Well...I got a cheap camera alright - both price & quality. When looking for a good digital camera, the optical zoom is far more important than the digital zoom. This Vivitar - Vivicam 8018 Digital Camera **has no **optical zoom. What this means in practical terms is, get close (really...
Summary: This looked like a very small camera that would be easy to use but the second time I used it I got the message "sensor fail" on the screen and the camera totally died. The three pictures I was able to take with it were excellent quality.
Summary: I didn't expect professional quality pictures with this camera, but I at least expected a quality better than what I received. I have worked professionally with electronics (industrial electronic programmer) and I was unable to find the secret setting that allowed for a decent photo. I read the online manual provided by Vivitar from cover to cover, I went to enthusiast sites looking for clues, but all to no avail.
Summary: I bought two cameras to my children (8 and 6 y.o.), after one day one of them stopped working. Since I bought the cameras while traveling to NY and I live outside USA it is not worthwhile to send it to warranty. I cannot say if the camera is good or not, but my experience was bad.
Summary: Picture taking is my life!! I would almost be board at family functions without a camera in my hands. I got my Vivitar camera at a pawn shop for $10 and it is amazing. I took it to my friends house over the summer and i got some beautiful pictures. this is an easy camera to work an i love the way it takes video even if it is soundless. for the 4th of july i took some videos of the fireworks and it was so much fun to look at even without sound.
