Excerpt: To me, the A77 with its 24Mp APS-C sensor + focus peaking + high frame rate looks like the perfect macrophotography tool. Combined with my Tamron 1:1 180mm f:3.5, it is amazing. Then, I mainly use ISO 200 to 400. For other kinds of photography (landscape, concerts, etc.), I much prefer the A850 and its OVF + FF sensor. Not that the A77 is bad, but it just cannot compete. So, I like the A77. I don't love it but it's nice to have it.
Excerpt: After almost 1 year of using my A77 for my photography business, I am finally almost satisfied. It's impossible to satisfy a professional wedding or event photographer with a budget under $3000 for a DSLR, but sony has came close with speed and quality when paired with the proper G-Lenses. The only improvements I would like to see is a better external flash, WIFI and blue tooth options for event on site printing.
Summary: Upgraded from the A-500 to the SLT A77. This is a nice camera. First, it feels good in my hand as it is nicely balanced. Photo quality is good, colors are rich, and shooting is solid. The supplied lens DT 16-50 2.8 SSM must be a guilt favor from Sony because it is plush. It is an extraordinary piece of glass. What I am not thrilled about is Sony not adding basic functions like TETHERING, again. I like to shoot hooked up my non-windows computer though an editing program.
Summary: I bought mine for going on my 15th Safari, I have used Minolta/Sony for all but one Safari. This model was a let-down and only exceeds the Alpha 700 by having 24 megapixels. To show how gimmicky this camera is, to set either average, centre-weighted or spot you have to go on to one of the on-screen menus, in other words setting the metering mode is not a primary function on this camera.
