Summary: Been waiting for this upgrade for a while now. Each year I keep trying to get ever more out of my A700. Have been looking forward to the A77 for a while now and am eager to try it out when it arrives.
Pros: 24mp, 8FPS(raw), and better high iso performance, EVF, Focus peaking, Weather sealed
Summary: Like many I toyed with the idea of the A77 for some time, having briefly used one a few years back it was nice, but the price was fairly heavy at the time. Fast forward to 2014 and a newer model A77 MkII and we get some very good deals on this camera right now. Having used the camera for a week or so I'll give you my honest impressions of it so far, and will update the review as required over time.
Summary: Great camera which produces fantastic results in a wide range of lighting conditions. Recommended for those who want to take their photography to the next level. Bewildering range of settings so worth spending some time becoming familiar with all the features.
Summary: Who could look past this camera after reading these reviews? My 'old' Sony R1 got me hooked on a properly live (WYSIWYG) electronic viewfinder instead of the optical viewfinders I had been used to.The A77's EVF is superb though I do miss the R1's zebra pattern over parts of the scene which are going to be over-exposed. I have the A77 fitted with the Sony Zeiss 16-80mm lens and the in-camera compensation copes well.
Summary: This camera is a joy to use, and has reinvigorated and improved my photography, and I have been taking pictures both professionally and for my own pleasure for 30 years plus. The viewfinder is big and bright akin to my Canon 5D original and can be adjusted to suit contrast wise, it does take a while to adjust to the electronic viewfinder but offers several major advantages over an optical one the main one is the ability to adjust the aperture and shutter speed and see...
Summary: Just upgraded from the Sony a57 and am glad I did! A superb piece of kit! Nice and sturdy body and picture quality (especially in good light) is superb! However at iso 1600 and over the noise starts to get noticeable but then it did with the a57, the autofocus is nice and accurate and the shutter speed is great. Is early days with the camera but so far am very impressed.
Summary: First of all, check which supplier your camera will be coming from, as some may not be supplying UK stock. This may affect your ability to get Sony UK to undertake a warranty repair, so be vcareful. Now, as for the camera: This is an immensely rewarding SLT camera to use - I have now owned the camera 9 months, and have previously used the Sony SLT-a57 and Sony's older a700 DSLR. This is a semi-pro model built to a high standard, which feels solid in the hand.
Summary: I have and old sony a100 and it was brilliant thats why I decided on sony again,it was the right choise the a77v is brilliantI have only done one shoot with it to date i found it quiet the controlls are in the right place and easy to find without taking your eye of the subject.
Summary: Brilliant viewfinder and solid build quality of camera body. Lens is wide aperture and extremely good resolution for a standard fit. Photos well exposed and naturally very sharp. Fast autofocus with no hunting. Translucent mirror has got to be the future of DSLR cameras. No crude mechanical mirror mechanism which is an absolute anachronism in the era of electronics.
