Summary: This was a Christmas present from me to me. I want to make photography my hobby, and yes, I know this was a sophisticated camera to start for a beginner. But SONY makes it simple, while producing incredible pictures. I love it, but I am looking for a camera body case to protect it while I'm carrying it, one that will also allow me to take pictures without detaching it from the camera.
Great image quality and features, poor built quality camera

Summary: I got CZ 16-80mm lens for this camera. took many photos with it in different conditions, and the photos turned out much better than my previous Canon 60D. photos are extremely sharp and colorful. it's also much faster than canon 60D, and i'm able to capture sharp photos of cats running and jumping around. also love the HDR and sweep panoramic features. low light performance is acceptable, and again it performed better than canon 60D.
Summary: I had a Nikon D300s. The scores for the sensor of the A77 in DXOmark are slightly better than the D300s and slightly lower than the Nikon D7000 which has the same sensor as the Sony A55 and it's known to be the best in class so far. It's unfair to compare this camera with other models that are more expensive, so keep it real.
Summary: I'm a long time Minolta SLR, now Sony DSLR user. Always just as a hobby, but I do like to get into the details and technical side of photography when I can... I recently rented an a77 to see how Sony's new technology was maturing and to see if I needed to budget for an upgrade in the upcoming year. I currently use an a900, a700 before that, and Sony's first DSLR based on Minolta's work, the a100.
Pros: Choices! Many, many choices., - EVF - You can set this to show you what exactly you see naturally, like an OVF (almost), or what your camera will capture based on your settings. You can also use this for image preview, which is great for shooting in a dark theater or concert where viewing on the LCD might be a distraction to those around you., - Live View - You don't have to use it, but with the flexible swivel options, if you want to use it, it's the most flexible on...
Cons: Not many, but some...., Buffer Size - It's too small! Great FPS does occasionally get limited by this. Additionally, a better buffer and caching system would improve performance "feel", and reduce the dependence on the fastest SD cards available., EVF - Bright, extreme contrast situations are still the one flaw I see with these. It just does not have the dynamic range of your eye. However, you can work around this if you shoot in raw. Setup a shooting style with the c...
Summary: Just got this camera; so far so good...so lucky before Track and Field Season. [Note] Use tripod for no flash shots...no margin for error. Takes multiple shots for no light situations. This is not a beginner camera; and don't expect to use AUTO and take great pictures. This is Pro Level and way beyond my A700 replacement. Do your checks before shooting and learn all the settings please. Will do another report after a month of usage.
Summary: This is the best camera on the market short of a full frame. It will focus in extreme low light. I bought an Olympus E5 last year and the technology behind this camera makes my E5 look like a great grandfather. Sony backs up what they claim with this one. Don't hesitate just buy it. You will not have any regrets, none.
Summary: I've not had this camera for very long (< one month), so I'm still finding ways to use all of its' myriad functions, but having used the Î+/-700 since it came out, I was quickly able to get some photos that I was happy with. I generally shoot RAW and will continue to, but I'm finding that the extra fine jpg's are pretty good and have enough information that (with a good exposure) they can still be fine tuned.
Summary: Pros: Extremely fast, very sharp images, very cool features & picture effects. Cons: Would have liked a CF slot as well as SD, noise issues above 3200 iso. I have shot with an a700 for almost 5 years and was very skeptical when the a77 was announced in August as it's replacement. My skepticism was based on 3 things: 1) the image quality of 24mps on a "C" sensor (lots of mps on a small sensor); 2) the quality of the OLED viewfinder; 3) the buffers ability to keep up with...
Summary: Bought this camera as a replacement for the very good sony a850 slr,and have not looked back. This camera lives up to the hype in every way.The LCD viewfinder and review panel is so good as to be beyond the scope of anything words can define. In live review mode when you look into the viewfinder, the back panel shuts off. When you look at the back panel, the viewfinder shuts off,soo intelligent!
Summary: I have shot Sony for about 6 years now and have always like the color and detail the produce, I was a bit skeptical of the SLT design and EVF but after using this camera I was pleasantly surprised, very bright great detail 100 % coverage through the EVF and all of the information on camera settings.. Nice, is it perfect "no" there are some areas that can be improved in low light the EVF can get dark and grainy, not unusable !!
