Sony SLT-A37

MacWorld
19 August 2012
  • Conclusion: As this a budget model costing a very reasonable $699 with the 18-55mm standard zoom supplied on test, we don’t get the top plate function window found on semi pro models, but we are provided with a shooting mode dial crammed with 12 manual and automatic picture enhancing controls, including panorama and 3D stills option. Again this is more than we’d normally expect at this price point.
  • Pros: Solid-feel build; tilting LCD back screen; plenty of manual control and automatic digital effects; good value for money with 18-55mm kit lens; sharp colour-rich images straight out of the camera
  • Cons: Some pixel fringing between areas of high contrast; AF sometimes struggles to keep up with faster subjects; LCD could be more flexible still to match the likes of Canon’s EOS 650D.

  • Excerpt: From the front the A37 looks almost indistinguishable from the previous two models. Sharing the same dimensions as its predecessors, the only noticeable difference (besides its badge) is that the rubberised hand grip now adopts a more attractive faux leather look, as opposed to the patterned effect seen on the A33 and A35. The paintwork and buttons have also received a slight revamp, now sharing a slick matte black finish throughout.

Sony Alpha A37 review

Pocket Lint
29 June 2012
  • Excerpt: Sony’s been pushing its SLT - or single lens translucent - range for some time now. Although touted as an "entry level" model, the Sony Alpha SLT-A37 has an arm-length list of features - many of which better the nearest big brand DSLR cameras.
  • Pros: Nippy autofocus, impressive continuous autofocus, affordable, decent image quality
  • Cons: 15-point AF system is centrally arranged, build is a little plasticky, electronic viewfinder won't suit all tastes, small LCD screen and light-reflective issues, limited battery life, no 60/50p movie mode

Sony Alpha A37

Absolut Photo
28 December 2012

CHIP Online
25 June 2012
  • Conclusion: Die Alpha 37 ist eine heiße Kamera-Empfehlung im Einsteiger-DSLR-Segment.
