Summary: I bought this camera three years ago and it's been fine. However - a couple years ago I started to notice that when I wanted to review my shots the button seemed to stick so that it would fly through all the pictures - I could stop it, but never where I wanted. I took it to the dealer but it was out of warranty.
Summary: Camera stopped working while at SeaWorld, the main board was fried. I took it to a local shop since I bought it 15 months ago and they told me it would be over 400 dollars to fix, took it to another shop for a second opinion with the same results. , I can get a new camera for a little more. After a quick internet search it seems that this is a common issue in this camera.
Summary: I loved this camera for 18 months then it stopped working all at a sudden while I am shooting a video. Then it never turned on again. It seems this issue is not common with this product. Look at here [...] . I am going to call the customer care and see what they would suggest and update my review here. Now I called Sony customer service and they asked me to send it over for repair.
Summary: 10/26/11 Update, Reset Your Camera I've since had first hand experience as well as confirmed from Sony marketing that the SLT series has known bugs and require the camera to be periodically reset. Item 2 below was a bug that after reset will no longer allow me to adjust the depth of field in 7f/s mode. [Note the 6/20/11 firmware update from Sony does not resolve this.
Summary: Just bought the camera and used it to shoot video. After 9 min of shooting the camera goes into a safe mode due to overheating. Apparently due to a faulty image sensor design it overheats at about 9 mins with the image stabilization on. If you turn it off, it extends for 29 min. If you are buying thid caamera to take videos, it is certainly a bad choice.
