Summary: This was the camera I waited for based on research. I wanted small, high quality, lens changing, and an eye piece. I wanted it for around $500, so when the price dropped, I could no longer resist. I was on the fence for awhile because I rely on my iphone for so many photo opportunities, but the phone does not do well indoors, with poor light, and under most circumstances other than good light, slow action, no zooming, outside.
Summary: I love the Sony nex-6. I think the kit lens is good; the pictures are pretty sharp for a kit lens. The camera has many features which I haven't tried yet but the few I did try, I am happy with the picture quality. I have a Canon 7D and I had to stop shooting with it because it's too heavy for me right now so I bought this so I could still do some photography. I like the fact that you can use so many lenses on it with adapters. That makes it more versatile and fun.
Summary: The Sony nex, unlike my Nikon D80 is so much lighter to carry as I go on my walks. It has as much to offer giving me so many options to get the type of shot I choose at the touch of a button. Closeups are a snap with the adjustable viewfibder, affording me angles I couldn't possibly get, though I still prefer the eye viewfinder for most shots, but that too is an easy switch. I'm discovering new features each outing, so much fun!
Excerpt: I have owned the Nex 6 for about 3 months now I think I have a good feel for the camera. I am coming from a Canon EOS M camera and before that Canon DSLRs. I purchase the Nex 6 for the sensor and because the A6000 was coming out soon so it meant the Nex 6 could be had for a good price. SENSOR: What I like most about the Nex 6 sensor is you can recover highlights and boost shadows without worrying too much about noise and with no banding in the shadows.
Excerpt: I shoot a lot of Fisheye pictures using my Canon 5d Mark 2 and while it takes great photos, it is to big to carry for many spur of the moment shots. In researching small ILCs, I discovered only two had low 1.5 crop factors, the Sony and the Samsung. I then found a great 7.3mm lens for the Sony and I was sold. I find the camera easy to use an handle and I am very pleased so far.
Excerpt: Amazing camera , take pictures like a SLR sometimes even better. the speed is super and the lens is great. Image qualitative is high. the viewfinder is so big clear and bright it is amazing, you see things I never noticed with a normal SLR viewfinder. Sony did a super job on this one.
Excerpt: I bought this camera last Christmas to replace my Lumix G2. I loved it the first party. Easy to use for everyone and plenty of feature when you decide to do serious photography. the image quality is perfect. it is easier to use my old Minolta MD lenses because of the focus peaking and I don't have change setup every time I use it. I bought an external battery charger and an extra battery.
Summary: Could of used an external battery charger and a better zoom lens, but still this deal was a steal. Shipping was super fast, all came out in a perfect condition and lots of accessories which complemented the camera. It was a great buy, definitely recommend it.
Excerpt: After a month of Nex 6 : Pros : - This thing makes THE BEST cam jpgs I ever seen in my life (Gears owned and/or tested : Fuji s7000, Nikon D70s, Nikon D300, Nikon D700, Nikon D3200, Nikon D800, Sony RX100 and some point and shoot). Period. There is VERY little need to shoot raw until iso 1000 (I shoot almost always raw+jpg). Colors and dynamic range are simply wonderful even at default settings (and auto WB).
