Summary: PLEASE NOTE: I'm giving this product an overall 1 star rating due to Sony's poor customer service...not due to the actual performance of the product. The product works as described and hasn't malfunctioned since I purchased it a year ago. Photos taken are very crisp and clear compared to other brands out there and the size of the camera is an attribute other companies should follow and if possible, try to catch up with (which I doubt).
Summary: I've been using high quality cameras for more than 45 years - made the transition from film to digital, photograph professionally - I have some creds here. Though totally in love with my Nikon F's (tens of thousands of exposures over 45 years and NEVER a failure or repair) I eventually migrated to Canon/Minolta P&S just for the convenience. I have tried several digital SLR's but simply can't put up with the weight and bulk other than in a studio.

I was really excited to move upto the Sony DSLR NEX5. It arrived late Friday of this 2011 Memorial Weekend. Summary: Beware anybody contemplating buying a Sony Camera. I bought a Sony NEX5NKS from The Camera Centre Newport, 7 Charles Street, Newport here on Amazon in August last year (2012). After 14 months I noticed that the LCD screen had blistered and discoloured making the camera difficult to use as well as look unsightly.
Summary: I have bought the SONY NEX 5N which I have waited for the chance to buy for more than 6 months! But returned it on the next day of delivery after the trial. The reasons were, 1. The OS was faulty so that I had to bypass setting up date and time whenever I turned it on. 2. The camera was completely stalled and gone black randomly three times during one hour trial. 3. Does not allow me to press the shutter several times even with the good focus and distance. 4.
New stock in March 2012 STILL has clicking problems in video.

Summary: I ordered a new NEX-5N on 5th March 2012 direct from Amazon UK (not a marketplace seller). I had been waiting a number of weeks for new stock to arrive, but I was fine with this as I assumed any new stock would be newly manufactured and therefore would have the infamous clicking problem resolved. Wrong! My NEX-5N exibits the same clicking problem in video that affected early models.
Summary: I have been a keen photographer for 50 years, owned many good cameras, Rolliflexes, Nikons, etc. I can honestly state that this camera is impressive, the image quality is breathtaking, the options for image management offer extended horizons for your creativity. I agree with all the previous reviewers comments regarding this cameras image quality.
Summary: Purchased NEX5NKB today (same day delivery) on the back of recent reviews confirming new samples do not exhibit the clicking noise during video recording. I eagerly unwrapped the camera, charged the battery, put in a memory card & started to record... Aaaaaaagh I could hear the clicking noise whilst recording, but during video playback it's unmissable. I was NOT panning too fast either...
