Excerpt: The Sony a900. It sounds like it means business, even before your first pickup of the camera leaves you with the impression that it was likely carved out of a block of German steel. From the solid semi-weather-sealed metal body to the industrial-looking pentaprism viewfinder housing, this body is clearly aimed towards the no-nonsense, no-special-effects crowd. With that in mind, the a900 is remarkably well designed.
Summary: I got this camera after Petax cameras system. I needed full frame camera but Pentax will die before it make FF camera. Sony camera is very good for portraits. It has awesome FF matrix with 24.5 MPx Pentax has Sony sensor too but not FF. Thats why Sony is my choice. Of the disadvantages: Low ISO potential, heavy weight,no SD, low battery resourse Very recommended.
Excerpt: Solid build and well designed in my opinion, I have got it wet a few times and had no problems with it at all. It's a gem in studio up to ISO 1600 and yes it does have noise after ISO 1600 but hey I never shoot at ISO 1600 RAW files are just amazing. Can't wait to see it's replacement. This was a good camera in it's time just like the DSLR-A700 and good value for the $3000 investment.
Excerpt: The OVF is one of the best and confortable viewfinder aver made. The easy to use position of each control give to this professional camera a very confortable and fast shooting moment. The sharpness, clarity and perfection in detail ad low iso are very perfect Problems: Noise staring from 1.600 iso... but with film 35mm when did you use Iso 1.600? Now we really want the perfection.
Excerpt: I have had this TANK Camera for a year, During using A900, I am really happy with this, it never let me down even once! This is my major Camera using for landscape 20-35mm, Back up is A700, both are very good camera. Although Sony is new comer for Camera Production field, He would push him to the best at no matter the cost. For Sony Decided to join DSLR. We should have more execiting Cameras coming soon by Sony. I trust Sony, What about you? Problems: Not found so far.
Excerpt: A rugged FF DSLR that delivers great performance and thankfully not a lot of $'s when compared to other brand FF DSLR's. Intuititive and easy to use. The minolta A mount lens legacy is a real bonus for getting hold of economical quality lenses for this baby. Even though some complain about high ISO performance, I find that 99% of my shots are @ 800 ISO or less, so this is not a real life issue; for me anyway.
Excerpt: Great camera. Very high resolution. great ergonomics. I love the in-body image stabilisation. Also the Zeiss lenses and Sony G lenses are great. Easily fulfills professional demands. Only sports shooters might desire slightly faster AF... Anyhow, IMHO this camera can definitely compete with the Canon 1 series or Nikon D3 series. Problems: high ISO noise is pretty good but still could be a little better.
