Summary: Let me first start off by saying I own a lot of glass. I also have had a fair share of cameras including Sony's latest higher end SLT cameras. I also shoot multiple systems including film. Mirrorless, full frame- all of it. This camera stacks up very well. For starters- as a pure photographic tool it still offers a ton of performance. It's the type of performance that even 6 years later since its 2008 release is more than competitive.
Summary: If you have never shot it, you won't understand how you can come to depend on the incredible shots you can take with this camera. You'll spend twice as much or more to get the same image quality with Canon or Nikon. I'm sad it's been replaced with A99 which is a great camera but doesn't live up to this gem.
Summary: Very happy with this camera. Started out with Minolta years ago and was happy Sony bought out the company so I could continue to use items I already had. I just had too much invested to switch brands. May be to much camera for a beginner and too much money for just starting out but if you are into Sony it is worth it.
Excerpt: Having used this camera for 5 years, I must say it has completely responded to my expectations. I see that today Nikon issues a "no-nonsense" full frame no video camera, and this is exactly what the Alpha 900 is. The sensor is an important part of any digital camera, and the one in the A900 is fantastic.
Better than I could have imagined! Great value for the money.

Summary: I bought this for a friend who wanted this camera for some time. I hear DAILY what a awesome camera it is! The pictures in the hands of an artist are simply breath taking. There is NOTHING to dislike about it!
