Summary: I've used the a580 for about one year.It works fine with a variety of minolta AF lensesand my sony lenses. The none follow focus with video is no problem, the subjects are far enough away that I use hyperfocal setting. The photo's are sharp and clear. It has a learning curve,it will do many things some Ido not know yet. Before i bought it, I found out it's limits and features .The camera does everything it's advertised to do!
Summary: The camera now a few years old and discontinued. Very impressed with the camera, but was not pleased at all with the kit lens that came with it. Color and exposure not correct. I bought a Tamron 24-50mm to replace the kit lens. Night and day difference. Highly recomend the camera but buy the Tamron lens. Nice thing about all the Sony dslr cameras is the stabilization is built into the cameras. They own the patent from Minolta (Sony cameras actually Minolta cameras).
Excerpt: Good for pratically all scenes. Fast shot and excelent for low lights. Flash left to be desired a little bit. Problems: To switch from movie to pictures is a little bit confused and it's not too fast.
Summary: Now, FullFrame-SLT-A99 is announced. It have no optical view finder. That's why, this camera DSLR-A580 is final DSLR of Sony who have optical view finder. And I guess, after DSLR-A580, picture quality of Sony's DSLR(including NEX) is not improved so. This indicates that this camera is only one selection for OVF fan of Sony.(I guess he have DSLR-A900 too. Of course, I have) Tiltable LCD is very useful for shooting with low/high angle. It makes photography more free!
Summary: Great camera I have had four Sony cameras now and all have been very user friendly and produce wonderful photos. The company provided the camera in the time stated and all parts were present and working. This product is a 580 not a 580L.
Summary: This is an amazing camera. I decided to pull the trigger after reading countless reviews and comparing versus other cameras. The menu system is extremely easy to learn and follow. The LCD is bright and beautiful which demanded that I buy a screen protector to protect its beauty. The image quality is phenomenal even up to ISO 3200! It's very durable and easy to take care of even though its made of plastic. The grip fits my hands perfectly as well as my girlfriend's.
Summary: I've had my 580 for about 3 months now, having captured thousands of images in a variety of lighting and other situations. I shoot mostly macro, landscape and general nature photography. This camera has been endowed with virtually every feature that a professional and most certainly non-professional would need. There are a number of 'auto' modes that are easily employed to 'figure out for you' the proper aperture, shutter speed, flash, etc.
Summary: The Sony a580 is an excellent camera that has really been lost in all of the excitement with the new translucent mirror products, particularly the a55 and the new a77. Just surveying the number of reviews, the a77 had four reviews before the product was even released and the a55 with 88! The a580 has seven total reviews and its not only a better camera than the a55, it's a better camera than the a77!
