  1. A Trio Of Sony D-SLRs; The Sony A350, A300, And A200

    Reviewer: Shutterbug

Earlier this year, Sony became the most prolific D-SLR manufacturer by announcing four cameras within a two-week period. This included a pro model, due later this year, that had scant specs available at press time. I was able to extensively test the other three, which are quite similar in that they all start from the same “base”: the entry-level 10-megapixel A200, which replaced the A100. The A300 adds Live View and a vertically tiltable LCD monitor. Boasting much... Read more

Sony has flooded the entry-level dSLR market this year (2008) with three offerings in this category, the A200 , A300, and A350. These models share very similar specifications, with resolution, Live View, and the LCDs being the main differences between them. The 14.2-megapixel Alpha 350 or DSLR-A350 is what I consider the "top model" from Sony in this field. Like the A200 we reviewed earlier in the year, the A350 offers an APS-C sized imaging sensor with Anti-dust system,... Read more

Review based on a production Alpha DSLR-A350 with firmware version 1.0 Sony's first two DSLRs, the A100 and A700 showed clear signs of their Konica Minolta lineage - sharing a lot of DNA with the Maxxum (Dynax) 5D and 7D respectively. Its latest, the A350, still shows signs of that ancestry but also hints at the influences of a company with rather different intentions. Read more

The Sony Alpha DSLR-A350 (priced from $799) is a midrange digital SLR, whose biggest claim to fame is "live view" on its tilting 2.7" LCD, with super-fast autofocus speeds. The A350 also features a whopping 14.2 Megapixel sensor, Alpha lens mount, image stabilization, dust reduction, full manual controls, and the performance and expandability that you'd expect from a D-SLR. The A350's little brother -- the A300 -- is nearly identical, with the main difference being its... Read more

Sony Alpha 350 digital reflex camera Sony are betting on the lowest segment of the D-SLR market with no less than three models. The Sony A200, the A300 and the A350 offer the consumer sufficient choice. It also shows that Sony, after a timid start, are willing to conquer the photography market and aim at the top 3. And mind you, this is only the beginning of what is to happen, as Sony already announced at the PMA that they will also be introducing a genuine professional... Read more
