Summary: We still use it to this day. I think I've owned it for 10 years? Only downside is the competition now is touch screen, connected to facebook, built in wifi, etc.. but as far as pictures, I see no need to get rid of this camera until it breaks. Also, it's metal... not plastic.
Excerpt: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290 seemed too good to be true when it was announced in February 2009. For less than $250 you get a wide-angle lens with a 5x zoom, 12-megapixel resolution, some of Sony's advanced automatic shooting options, HD video capture, and a 3-inch LCD all packed into a nice-looking body roughly the size of a deck of cards. Sounds pretty great, right? There had to be something wrong.
Excerpt: This camera is a great choice for an amateur photographer who wants to capture everyday and extraordinary moments without hassle. My friends and family are always commenting on how good a quality pictures I am taking and how clear they come out on this camera. The view screen is nice and big and totally user friendly. We use the digital camera feature all the time and the settings are very useful and easy to figure out.
Excerpt: The Sony Cybershot W90 is an awesome camera-----I really like it becauseit fits nicely into my purse and it takes amazing pictures that I tend to get many compliments on. The super steady feature is one of my favorites because some times I just can't stay still, especially when at a concert! The Sony Cybershot W90 also takes excellent shots in low lighting situations. What I like about it is that there are pre-set settings for every lighting condition---- It was great.
Excerpt: This is our third Sony camera and overall we are pleased. We take a LOT of pictures - candids, landscapes, action shots etcetera. The quality of the photos is great and the JPG images are easy to manipulate once transfered to the computer. There is a wide variety of settings that are more than enough for most amateur photographers.
Summary: I bought this camera used, it came in great condition and was happy with the seller. Good compact camera, picture quality good but not great, eaze to carry around, like to still be able to look through eye opening for focus, newer models no longer offer this feature. I'd buy it again if I had to do over. Fit's my needs perfectly.
I love my W90!! Red eye issues but they can be corrected right on the camera.

Summary: I upgraded to this from the Sony Cybershot DSC-W50. They have made some great improvements but they have made some changes that I don't like also, which is why I give this 4 stars and not 5. If you're looking for a small point-and-shoot camera, this one is great, but it definitely has red eye issues for indoor pics with the flash, so be warned! The good news though is that this camera has red-eye removal software right in the camera.
