Summary: I never really liked the camera that much. Bought it at Costco where I was advised it had a great lens. Some pic quality was excellent but to me it seemed inconsistent. Admittedly I am a novice. The telephoto adjustment was very difficult to use and 2 years 5 months later the telephoto lens stopped working mechanically and the camera froze up. It's disposed of now. I haven't been impressed with Sony's overpriced products for some time now.
Summary: I needed to replace my camera and thought that a nice point and shoot would fit my needs. WRONG!!! After reading the reviews I purchased this camera. The first time I used it was on a trip to Las Vegas. The flash is HORRIBLE!!!! It makes everyone look yellow and blurry. I tried the other settings to see if it would make a difference and nothing worked. I have not been able to find a way to correct the problem in my photo editing program either.
Summary: I'm not a camera guru, so I didn't think very hard about picture quality when buying this camera. I figured in this day and age no matter what camera you get it's going to take reasonable pictures. That was a false assumption on my part. This camera does not take satisfactory pictures, especially in motion. I had a Canon that was several years dated, the same basic size and took better pictures. Along with that, Sony cameras now greatly frustrate me.
Summary: This camera had everything i wanted, slim pocket-sized, sleek look, all the right features & specs. One BIG problem though - it consistently takes pictures of horrible quality - blurry, out of focus, bad colors, terrible in low light. No matter what I tried; changing the settings, ISO, etc... nothing helped. I could not for the life of me get one good picture out of this camera.
Terrible picture quality! Everything has a yellow tint to it

Summary: I see on here that there are good reviews and bad reviews for this camera, which I can actually understand. I didn't notice any problems at first. Sometimes, the camera takes amazing, clear pictures. However, other times, the pictures come out horrible! Outside when it is sunny, or inside when there is lots of light, people's faces come out with an "oily" "painted" look to them- trust me, it ruins the picture. This happens when it is dark as well.
Summary: So after much time spent looking at reviews and all different kinds of sony cameras, I decided to get the sony w180 camera. I ignored all the posts about the picture quality and design of the camera because so many people said the pictures were fine. I'm not a big picture person, but I compared it with a 4 year old sony camera that was only 7 megapixels and probably not near as many features, and I could tell an obvious difference between the picture quality and...
Summary: This one doesn't have a Carl Zeiss lenz, and it shows in the picture quality. Also, max resolution for video is 320, not 640 like the other ones I have used. (I have used 5 others) It's not bad for the price, but I wouldn't get another one.
Summary: This camera looks very very good, is solid, well built and it is a Sony. I bought it because of those factors. But - the quality of the pictures is horrible, even compared to cameras in the same $100 price range. Photos made with flash are often overexposed or blurry or grainy. This is not because of the settings, because there is really not too much to set in this camera. Pictures made in full sun are also low quality, which was a surprise to me.
