Excerpt: I began a home jewelry business a few years ago, and once I decided I need to move my business to an online store, I was on the hunt for a camera that could take quality close-up photographs of my jewelry. After playing with some cameras at the store …
Summary: I really expected improvement over my other Cybershot but feel I down graded in quality. This camera offers some more options my old one didn't but I've noticed that images don't focus like my old camera did. As I gave my sister my old one, this one will have to do for now.
Summary: I bought this as a gift and my girlfriend really enjoyed. She loves taking photos and this worked well and was fast and its small size easy to carry around. ITs not a professional camera by any means but it is good for casual photos.
Summary: Camera came with no CD or inst book, but this was pointed out in description. The only problem I have with the camera is the On Off button won't respond when pressed sometimes. I wanted a camera with a optical viewfinder because they are hard to find in a point and shoot.
Summary: This camera gets a bad rap because of focus problems, but its fine lens compensates for its shortcomings. I was very unhappy with my photos until I stopped using most of the automatic functions. I recently took the camera on a hike and took over 200 shots, of which 15 were out of focus (most at 5X).
Excerpt: The wide angle lens is what makes the Sony CyberShot W170 a great digital camera. The 5x zoom still gives plenty of telephoto also. The battery life seems to be very good, and last but not least, the quality of the pictures is excellent!
Summary: I don't think you can go wrong with any low cost compact camera nowadays. It's just a matter of preference and maybe dedication to overcome the shortcomings you'll find in a particular model.
Pros: Good image qualtity, Great colors, Overall pretty responsive, quick auto focus, fairly quick shot to shot time., Solid built quality
Cons: Lack of manual controls/white balance, Slow and a bit confusing menu (but I got used to it quickly), Image stabilizer not on par with other camera brands, Barrel distortion which is noticeable in some images
Summary: Its been two years since I bought this camera and even today it works so perfect that I do not feel the necessity in purchasing another one. The picture clarity is perfect and also the pictures taken in the dark also come out so nice. I love this camera.
