Excerpt: First things first. All the good things written about the Sony Cybershot V3 camera are really good. I was looking for scaled down, "pro" quality camera with looks and feeling which enables very quick use in all situations. I am taking pictures mostly "on the run". My favourite sports and transportation devices are rollerblades and bicycles, so I need a camera close to my body (on the waist belt),light and compact. I was really happy as I bought this camera, DSC V3.
Summary: I love the camera and all of its features, but it keeps coming up with file error and I lose some pictures. I don't recommend this camera for people going on long trips or taking pictures of extremely important events that can't be repeated.
Summary: I love this camera! The best pictures...easy to use...love it! One downside is the cost for repairs. The 1st one I had the button to snap pictures popped off and Sony wanted almost $200 to repair it. That was a rip. So I decided I would never pay that much for a camera again ($599 back in 2005). I had to get one for a bargain from ebay.
Summary: I'm happpy that people are very pleased with this model. Having confidence and liking your camera are two very important aspects in rating cameras. Here's a few realistic mentions that are just as noteworthy about the V3. The auto modes tends to choose small apertures. Small aperture, small lens, small sensor all add up (or down in this case) to lower resolution. I think to be objective then the facts should be presented.
Summary: I have been using my sony DSC-V3 for over 2 years. So far my photos are all saved as jpeg in best quality and they are excellent. I do not do alot of printing as I prefer slide shows. I use my digital for everything from macro close up of flowers, bugs to group photos outside with great results. Even scenery shots are nice. I like the convenience of the built in flash for fill-in on portraits etc when needed.
