Sorry Sony but this sucks...
1 May 2014
Summary: I used to have a sony cybershot TX-5 for more than 3 years without ANYY problems, until the focus started to give me problems, so I decided to change it for a new model. I used it all the time and it was great, very durable and reliable for EVERYTHING. After I received the TX20, I didn't use it much. Last month I started to use it and noticed a crack on the battery entry lit, but didn't mind it. I thought it could have been my fault.
Summary: This lasted for ten days in Hawaii, and two days in Mexico before water got in and ruined it. We took GREAT care of it, soaked it everytime after being in salt water as recommended, and it still leaked. We took great care of this camera after reading the negative reviews about this leaking, however ours still leaked. We got married in Mexico this summer, and this camera stopped working day two of our 14 day trip.
Summary: I am sure that my camera was probably defective. I bought it several months before a trip to Grand Cayman. It worked fine "above water". Two days after arriving in Grand Cayman, we went on a four stop snorkeling trip. After going under water one time, it no longer worked. I had no camera for the remainder of the trip. I appreciate the fact that Amazon took it back since it was past the return date. Although, I was charged 30.00 for a restocking fee..
Summary: We tested this camera in swimming pools a few times & it was fine. Second time in the ocean while snorkeling, it stopped working, even though we had followed the instructions about rinsing & checking the seals. Pictures & video were fine, but it was easy to accidentally trigger the multiple shot function. Battery does run down quickly.
Summary: I bought the camera in February and haven't had a chance to test it in the water until it has been warmer. I recorded my sons sliding on a 5 foot inflatable water slide into a 5-6" wading pool at the end. It worked great for this and didn't seem to have any problems in the water. The video looks fantastic and I was really pleased. Next weekend I took them swimming at their grandparents.
Summary: Cons: do not buy this for beach use. Mine was dead on the spot. First, it is not sandproof, the sand will stuck the sliding door of the camera. Second, it is not salt water proof. Pros: The picture quality is ok and the shutter lag is not big for the two star rating.
Summary: So far the camera has been used one week and it froze up. Some pictures are wonderful, others are terrible. An entire night of our vacation photos came out a blur and it was set to the auto and then to the superior auto settings. Did take some nice photos from a moving car though and several nice panoramas. The small size makes keeping fingers out of the way difficult and finding the right buttons hard too.
