Summary: I bought this camera about 11 months ago, and had been very happy with the camera. The versatility of going from video, to camera to underwater was amazing, and all for $235. All went well for the last 11 months until a recent trip to Mexico. It worked for 1 day on the trip and then died. I thought it might have been the battery. When that wasn't the problem, I contacted Sony Repair.
Summary: I purchased this to go on my once in a lifetime honeymoon to Bora Bora and on the first day, first dip in water, less than 2 feet down the screen went blank and it never came back on. This malfunction left me without a camera on one of my most memorable trips.
I had it crack in the same spot with 2 different cameras

Summary: I loved my camera it took amazing great pictures both on land and in the water. It also took very amazing videos. The reason why I gave it one star is because on the back side of the camera at the bottom of the touch screen by where your battery and SD card go there is nothing but a thin piece of plastic on that part of the frame. With my first camera this piece cracked when the camera was 14 months old so it was past the warranty date.
Summary: I bought this camera dec 2012. It took good pics. However right now I am on vacation in Barbados and I went to the beach and the camera stopped working after being in the water for two mins. Now it won't even turn on and I will be forced to have a picture-less vacation.
Summary: Through Amazon.com, I purchased the waterproof camera (Sony DSC-TX20) in February 20, 2013 for $199 + tax as a birthday present for myself for a friend's destination wedding in Hawaii and used it once in April 2013, then it suddenly stopped working. I never dropped it; I only used it in 1 foot of water in a pool (it is supposed to work up to 16 feet of water). Since then, it won't turn on and the battery won't recharge. It's basically nonfunctional.
Buyer beware - no Sony warranty (but Amazon is great)

Summary: Buyer beware! I LOVED this camera until it quit after 6 months of use. I've taken the camera twice to the caribbean. It quit during my second trip. I sent the camera to Sony for warranty/Service. Upon opening the camera Sony found corrosion inside. The service center stated that they would not repair the camera, due to the cost being $700, nor would they replace the camera due to the corrosion which voided the warranty. How did the corrosion get inside the camera?
Summary: I am ashamed to say I fell for the bait! I bought this camera on a black friday deal in 2012. I let it sit until early spring and thought I would give it a shot in our pool. I ENSURED I followed the instructions to make sure the seal was water tight. Low and behold, 101 pictures later I have a brick. I let it sit for a month or so before calling in to claim the warranty. Here is the interesting part.
Summary: Sony started making HORRIBLE waterproof cameras! its the 3rd model I get that brakes due to water damage!!! These are not cheap and yes, they look nice and I love the features, but I really wanted waterproof. Never again I will buy sony..
EXTREMELY SUSCEPTIBLE TO SPONTANEOUS CRACKS IN CASING
26 November 2013
Summary: The camera looks and functions great out of the box, but its appeal quickly disappears once you realize how susceptible the casing is to sprouting spontaneous cracks. Within the first weeks of having the camera, I dropped the camera off of a low table (admittedly my fault), and the camera case cracked in several places. I was flabbergasted that a camera advertised as being shockproof would perform so poorly.
