Do not buy this camera
27 June 2014
Summary: Leaked the first time taken underwater at ten days old and it broke. Was On holiday so couldn't return it before the 14 day guarantee. Sent for repair only to be told that warranty doesn't cover water damage! Now being charged the cost of the camera again to get a replacement! Or can pay 25% less to close the case... Plus an additional charge if I want the accessories back! Not good Sony!
Summary: I really thought it was a nice camera until I took it parasailing! It was easy to use took great pictures that is until it got wet. After that it won't turn on cant charge it can't get it to do anything. Really nice camera as long as you keep it dry! Waterproof ha what a joke!!! Don't buy this camera! It's a waste of money!!
Summary: I bought this camera in 2011 and have used it on a handful of vacations. I've always kept the camera in a padded case and *never* once have I dropped it. Yet somehow, the plastic casing began to crack around the display screen right after my one-year limited warranty had ended. I immediately contacted SONY, and though it had been about a month since my warranty ended, they did absolutely NOTHING to help me. Their customer service was horrendous.
Summary: Theses cameras are NOT waterproof. The gasket area/latch were fine before snorkling. The camara was submerged no deeper than 3 feet above the surface. I was in the water for less than 30 minutes. The battery compartment was flooded. Yes the latch remained closed the entire time. The camera does not turn on with a new battery. I am very displeased to read that Sony will not honor it's product nor strike Waterproof from it's description.
Summary: My family owns two waterproof cameras - Canon and Sony. Both take good pictures but my Canon is two years older and still works (beginning to act quirky) while the Sony has a piece that just broke off. I bought the Sony on Amazon during Black Friday deal that I thought was too good to pass up, but now wonder if it was worth it since I am afraid that it is no longer waterproof. Both cameras have been in pools and oceans with no problems.
Summary: I purchased this camera less than a year ago. I was very happy with this thing with it's touch screen interface with lagged at times but had so many options. The stitching feature is pretty slick and works well. I Never took it in the water even though it states that its a Water Proof Camera. I treated this thing like a baby and followed all care and use instructions. I have several other cameras. Mostly Canon. This is my first and last Sony product, I will ever purchase.
broken already! Sony wants to charge me MORE than the value of the camera to fix it!!

Summary: Had this camera less than a year and it won't work!! I dropped the camera from 2 feet off the ground- on to carpet!- and I got a green screen of death. The lens is broken (I'm assuming) and it won't even turn on now. I've tried everything I can think of and the Sony people want me to send it in so they can fix it for a whoping $300!!! I don't think so. Haven't had a problem with water, but then I've only used it while snorkeling in shallow water.
