Takes great pics but not durable
11 May 2012
Summary: This camera takes great pictures for a point and shoot, especially under low light conditions. However, if you are looking for a durable, waterproof, shockproof camera that's all around more rugged, I would stick with cannon, olympus, or panasonic. This camera is not durable at all. The frame surrounding my screen broke while the camera was in a hard case inside my purse on a separate compartment. Where is the shockproof there?!
Summary: not waterproof! not shockproof! paid 169 on black friday, and to fix it customer service is asking for over 220.... useless, ill never buy cameras from sony again, really bad customer service....
Summary: I've read the negative reviews on this product not being as "water proof" as expected, and I haven't dunk it in a pool, yet. It's been splashed a little, though. Otherwise this camera is pretty great for its class and price. It's no DSLR like my Nikon, but again it's a point and shoot so I didn't expect its blur background functionality to be that robust.
Summary: I don't want to say this is a great camera just because I like sony products but because it indeed is. Bought it right before going to a trip to Europe and do not regret at all about purchasing it. While I was there I was able to go through storms and all kinds of weather conditions and still got great pictures. The feature I like the most is that you can go under water (about 16 ft or 5 meters).
Camera got water in it on trip to Galapagos...ruined!!
Karolyn Couch, Amazon
10 April 2012
Summary: I bought this camera a few months ago and used it quite a bit. But the reason I ordered it was for our most recent trip to the Galapagos. We went snorkeling and I used it on the first and second day and all was good. The third day I used it I noticed that I could not get it to work once in the water. When I got back to the ship I opened it up to take out the batter (figuring that the battery needed to be charged) only to have water come out!!
Summary: The incorporated auto white balance worked nicely for blue-light corrected underwater snorkeling pictures and video (there were also two preset options that I did not try). Camera would allow taking of snapshots while video recording simultaneously. Took action video while watching and actually boogie boarding. Auto-stitching panorama sweep mode made dramatic sunset and scenery shots. The display was a bit dim for underwater and beach use, but not impossible.
Summary: This camera is so great. It has awesome features and special effects. This magenta/pink color is just beautiful and the picture quality is amazing! The touch screen works very well, and it comes with a pen if you would like to use that instead of your fingers. Definitely recommend this product!
Summary: This is a great camera. Very fast to take picture. Picture quality is great. The Sony Panorama-Picture feature is a nice tool. I didn't have any issues with water intrusion! Pay attention that the rubber seal is sand or dirt free! Would definitely recommend!
Nice Camera, Water Leaked Inside it Though... Got Replacement!
T. BISHOP, Amazon

Summary: I decided to write a review so people would know that sony did give me a replacement camera (Only cost of $15 for shipping) after my first one got water inside of it. I had been looking for a good waterproof camera for a while to use while on cruises and other places while snorkeling. Generally, the camera has a great form factor. It takes sharp images and has a lot of neat settings, including 3D and panoramic pictures.
