Summary: I purchased this camera as an alternative to my $8000 DSLR when on vacation somewhere I didn't want to lug a lot of photography gear. There are plenty of reviews here with highly technical info, so I'll cover the basic pros and cons from my own experience.
Summary: i bought this product as a gift for my girlfriend, she wanted a waterproof camera, so I got her this. We have taken this camera to several trips including a recent one to Playa del Carmen, and we were able to take it with us to the beach, and rivers.
Summary: Bought it at $160. Water resistent yes, just verify you close the connection lid. Color is the best IMO. But the battery doesnt last. I can only take a 30 minute video and it dies on me. Touch screen is not that quick.
Summary: My family owns two waterproof cameras - Canon and Sony. Both take good pictures but my Canon is two years older and still works (beginning to act quirky) while the Sony has a piece that just broke off.
Summary: I purchased this camera less than a year ago. I was very happy with this thing with it's touch screen interface with lagged at times but had so many options. The stitching feature is pretty slick and works well. I Never took it in the water even though it states that its a Water Proof Camera.
broken already! Sony wants to charge me MORE than the value of the camera to fix it!!

Summary: Had this camera less than a year and it won't work!! I dropped the camera from 2 feet off the ground- on to carpet!- and I got a green screen of death. The lens is broken (I'm assuming) and it won't even turn on now.
Summary: I go through so many cameras but ever since getting this one I haven't bought any camera since. I got it in the color pink, which I adore :) it's very light which surprised me at first and took time to get used to, its so light you think it will break if it falls but nope I dropped it 3 times on...
