Summary: Exact same thing happened to me as did to KW. KW said: "The camera leaked and stopped working. When I sent it to Sony they told me that they found corosion and the warranty was void. I told them that it was warranted to be waterproof and if the seals failed it should be covered. They just kept repeating their words and refused to honor their warranty" There has to be an issue with the seal.
Conclusion: This is a great little camera. It's fun all around camera. Pictures are decent. Video is great, and underwater performance has exceeded my expectations.
Pros: This is a great little camera. It's fun all around camera. Pictures are decent. Video is great, and underwater performance has exceeded my expectations.
Cons: Overall operation is slow. If [video] lag time is important to you, look elsewhere. The touchscreen response is somewhat (very?) disappointing. It skips quite often. Esp. after using an iPhone/iPodTouch/iPad/etc, the touch screen performance of this camera is a joke.
Excerpt: This is a great little camera. It's fun all around camera. Pictures are decent. Video is great, and underwater performance has exceeded my expectations. Reviewing both pictures and videos on the rear LCD screen is a lot of fun too amongst friends and family. It's super clear. I've also used the HDMI out to play back pictures and videos on a large screen and was extremely satisfied. Problems: Overall operation is slow.
Summary: I pre-ordered my tx10 7 months ago after owning 2 different olympus waterproof cameras. The olympus cameras worked great but failed after a year and a half of use. I never took good care of my olympus cameras so the failures were salt corroding the case and buttons. I fish and surf.....a lot! After receiving my Sony I was impressed with the small size but was concerned on how it didn't seem a beefed up as my Olympus cameras were.
Summary: This camera is NOT waterproof as advertised and the Sony warranty is not covering water damage...which might tell something about their trust in their own product. I bought this camera especially before a trip to HI. My wife wanted to have a small camera since she dislikes my bulky DSLR and lenses. Since we also planned to do some snorkeling, the TX10 sounded too good to be true.
Summary: I am a pro photographer and this addition to my cameras was a great plus considering the 16.2MP, waterproof and shockproof. This is one of the best looking waterproof cameras in the market and is worth the $s. Underwater pics and video is really cool and crisp. Battery life is the only thing that bit concerned me... but its not that bad considering the quality and features it offers.
Summary: Ok, let me begin by saying I am far from a photo guy. I have no idea what an ISO, F stop or WB is. But I can say this camera is awesome! For the first time ever I was able to take a camera on vacation without having to worry about it getting wrecked. Took it in the pool, on the beach and in the OCEAN!!! The setting are easy to use, touch screen, although sometime unresponsive, is a great feature and the panoramic setting is really cool. Picture quality is amazing.
Summary: Confirming the other good reviews. A great, light little camera. Amazing pictures and better video (in HD) than my DVD camcorder Even the mic works well. Works great underwater and we have inadvertently tested the shock proofness - works great too. Highly recommended.
Summary: I see all the negative reviews for the camera leaking. I have one for the supposed shock proof warranty. I am a caver and this camera has been great for 5 months. I take it in my cave sack take photos go home clean it and it has always worked well (other than the dust spots from the flash). Anyway, last time i went i tossed my cave pack about 4 feet down below me. Later when i got the camera out the liquid crystals behind the glass had ruptured.
