Summary: I got this product as a gift to my wife on Thanksgiving and Wedding Anniversary, and guess what? As soon as she opened the box she was happy and I could see a smile. But when I took this cam in my hand, I noticed a perfect blue pixel on perfect black screen. I am not sure if that is a defect of just a software bug... but looks like it is wrong to send a defective product to customer.
Summary: A number of reviews complain that the TX10 leaked resulting in a dead camera. They also stated Sony blew them off and refused to settle their claim of a defect. I just purchased a TX10 and did not want to see a water leak problem. Therefore I decided to test the Sony spec that the camera is waterproof up to 16 feet for one hour. Shortly after receiving the camera I inspected the surfaces of the two door seals for defects with a magnifier and found none.
Summary: Pro: Excellent image qaulity even in dim light Auto-focus works perfect in almost all situation bright, dim, or in mesuem. (with the help of focus-assistant light0 Very impressive at micro-focus as close as 1/2". I can see detail of 10um. Con: Battery coming with camera only run for 1 hour. Need to buy spare one (Wasabi power ~$30 gives two batteries of 4 times longer run time and charger Cover is little fragil and water in it no easy to get dry out.
Summary: With my wife's broken and my Nikon DSLR on it's way to Japan because it also broke itself, we were in need of a camera to attend an upcoming airshow. Through no fault of her own, my wife dropped her camera and the pictures started to come out very bad, but it still took great video. That's where this camera caught my attention, can take a relatively short fall.
Summary: This is a great little camera in a small package. I bought this camera about a month ago and just got back from Florida, Walt Disney World, Universal and Discovery Cove. It took great pictures of the fireworks, great night pictures, awesome day pictures of the park, the castle, family, the Disney characters. I took this to Discovery cove and in the salt and non-salt water with me. I took over 150 underwater pictures and movies and it worked great.
Summary: Exact same thing happened to me as did to KW. KW said: "The camera leaked and stopped working. When I sent it to Sony they told me that they found corosion and the warranty was void. I told them that it was warranted to be waterproof and if the seals failed it should be covered. They just kept repeating their words and refused to honor their warranty" There has to be an issue with the seal.
Summary: Camera is great we are having a blast with this thing. We take it swimming and havn't had any problems with taking it in the water. Pictures are clear and look great on a large screen. It's easy to carry.
Conclusion: This is a great little camera. It's fun all around camera. Pictures are decent. Video is great, and underwater performance has exceeded my expectations.
Pros: This is a great little camera. It's fun all around camera. Pictures are decent. Video is great, and underwater performance has exceeded my expectations.
Cons: Overall operation is slow. If [video] lag time is important to you, look elsewhere. The touchscreen response is somewhat (very?) disappointing. It skips quite often. Esp. after using an iPhone/iPodTouch/iPad/etc, the touch screen performance of this camera is a joke.
Excerpt: This is a great little camera. It's fun all around camera. Pictures are decent. Video is great, and underwater performance has exceeded my expectations. Reviewing both pictures and videos on the rear LCD screen is a lot of fun too amongst friends and family. It's super clear. I've also used the HDMI out to play back pictures and videos on a large screen and was extremely satisfied. Problems: Overall operation is slow.
