Summary: I purchased this camera for my daughter who just moved to the Caribbean. She loves this camera and is thrilled with the underwater feature as well as the 3D sweep panorama. She has found this camera to be everything described and more. Great camera with great features. I'm going to purchase one for myself.
Excerpt: I go this camera prior to a trip to Hawaii to use underwater, and to have later as a carry-everywhere camera. The main reasons I chose it over other underwater cameras were: 1. Lens protection when not in use. 2. High quality results with exmor sensor. 3. Super close macro distance (~1cm). 4. 24mm equiv wide angle 5. Nice and small for shirt pocket use.
Summary: I took this camera out to the Badlands in the Anza Borrego desert twice and it worked flawless. It was covered in dust and I did drop it from 5 feet to test it. Still worked perfect. I then took the camera on a hike and dropped it from 5 feet into a river. I reached in and took a couple of pictures. Camera still worked perfect. The camera takes excellent photos and in my opinion is a good buy. I have read reviews where people state it is not waterproof.
Summary: I bought this camera about a week before a two-week Caribbean vacation, persuaded mainly by the reviews. I didn't have time to play with it or read the manual before my trip. I launched straight into using it. Here are some of my favorite things: 1. It didn't leak, and there are no bubbles on the lens when the door opens. 2. It's very intuitive. The menus on the screen make sense if you just take your time.
Summary: This camera was surprisingly really good, given the price and size of the camera. What surprised me most is the picture quality which clearly surpassed the ones from my Nikon Coolpix S9100. I bought the Sony camera mainly for its waterproofness but now I think it will be my default camera unless I need a longer zoom which is now the only feature I'd still need from the Nikon. The auto mode really works on the Sony whereas it was hit and miss on the Nikon.
Summary: Well, I already have an Olympus and Pentax underwater camera. Got the Sony because of the high pixel density. The first time I used it in the water it lasted about 30 minutes and quit. I suspected water intrusion and confirmed it after exiting the water. I had this happen once with an Olympus, and it was replaced under warranty. I was disappointed, but not too concerned as it was only 1 month old and would still have a warrranty.
Summary: Amazing little camera. Finally a camera that shoots like an SLR but fits in my pocket. I'd read lots of reviews about this camera and wanted to put to rest some of them. First, the start-up time. I've read some reviews where people were complaining about lengthy start up time. That is not standard and they need to replace their camera. I've used two of these (my friend had one and I bought one for myself), and both started immediately upon sliding the lens cover down.
Summary: I'm not a camera aficionado, or very good at reviews I guess, so I don't have a pros and cons list but I really like this camera. I can't speak to the waterproof-ness of it because I haven't used it in the water yet but I can say it has plenty of picture settings, the images come out clean and sharp and I had fun playing with the panoramic shots. It feels solid but not heavy, it's slim but not tiny, for a non-SLR camera I'd say it's a great machine.
Summary: I've had this camera for about 6 months now, and I absolutely love it! The interface is easy to use if you are used to using any touch-screen device. The various features are extremely easy to use for various settings and scenes, especially the panorama settings. This is a great size which fits easily in a pocket. If you are looking for a camera with lots of settings to take great looking pictures for trips, vacations, outdoor activities, etc.
Summary: The camera is advertised as shock-proof' however my camera fell approximately 3 feet and now has 2 noticeable cracks. Sony's customer support says that the damage voids the warranty -_-....I would not recommend purchasing this camera. According to them the minimum repair cost is 200 dollars. On top of that there are plenty of cameras with similar specs for over a hundred dollars less.
