Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T77

PC Magazine

  • Conclusion: Sony's camera delivers on image and construction quality as well as on style. If you can live with the color fringing, this camera is a good deal.
  • Pros: Great image quality, fast operation, luxurious build, thin. Touch-screen menus are quick and responsive. Tons of in-camera editing options.
  • Cons: Strong color fringing. Poor battery performance.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T77

Camera Labs
1 November 2008
  • Summary: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T77 is a slim, stylish compact that will greatly appeal to gadget addicts with its touch-screen and smile detection. It’s comfortably slimmer than any of the other compacts we’ve tested recently, and when out taking photos with a variety of models, the Sony was invariably the one which got the most attention.
  • Pros: Slim body with non-extending lens., 3in touch-screen monitor., Smile Shutter mode really works., Optional cable for HDTV slideshows.
  • Cons: Lacking true wide angle coverage., Touch-screen often slow to use., Slim body can be uncomfortable to hold., Stabilisation less effective than rivals.

  • Excerpt: A pricey compact camera, the 10.1Mp Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T77 is a slip of a thing. It has a slide down metal front cover that conceals its lens and flash.

18 December 2008
  • Excerpt: The Cyber-shot DSC-T77 is the stylish amateur photographer’s dream: it comes in a range of contemporary colours including black, silver, rose pink, and chocolate brown, is super-slim and portable, and generally speaking is one of the sexier compacts on the market in its price range. Its truly ultra slim body has a snappy metallic lens cover that further accentuates the overall...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T77

PriceRunner
25 September 2008
  • Conclusion: It’s rare that an all-out style product can hold its own against more traditional designs but the T77 manages it and then some. The slide-down lens cover and large touchscreen mean that it is easy and fairly quick to use, and its 10MP pictures look good enough to grace any catwalk. The Smile Shutter feature is the best in class, reliably tripping the shutter just when your subjects are grinning – handy when taking pictures of younger kids.
  • Pros: When it comes to sheer style, Sony always has an elegantly manicured upper hand. The T77 is the thinnest (15mm) and lightest (126g) camera on test, with a machined metal finish that feels as glossy and urban as a spanking new Vespa scooter. The over-sized sliding lens cover is pure class and the eye-blinding pictures from its 10MP sensor are beautifully warm and flattering. There’s a huge ISO 3200 setting for low light and Face and Smile Detection features galore.
  • Cons: Some people will love the 3-inch touchscreen but we found it a bit clumsy at times, especially in bright light or when wearing gloves. Its widescreen aspect ratio is a bit of a waste as the camera still shoots in traditional 4:3 format.

Sony T77

Absolut Photo
28 December 2012
