Great camera, great deal.

  • Excerpt: Bought this camera for a trip to NYC that has not yet taken place. Still learning all of the great features and functions. The startup guide that comes with the camera has only the most basic information but the online users guide available at Sony is chocked full of great details. Too much to take in at the moment so there will still be lots of learning. So far it works as advertised and seems to produce excellent jpeg images. Too bad it doesn't shoot in RAW.
  • Pros: Great Resolution, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Small / Compact
  • Cons: No Viewfinder

Great Camera

Sue M, Amazon

  • Summary: I love this camera. It takes great photos! Easy to use and great directions for use included right in the camera. Super low light photos. Great shutter speed, catches lots of photos that my old digital camera missed from being too slow. The flash photos are remarkable (once again my old camera had to be a lot closer for the flash to be useful.

Excellent value.

  • Summary: I bought it for my wife after reading reviews. It's a good value and the best camera we've owned. It's hand-held stability is good, and it's excellent in low-light conditions; she's very pleased with it. We've had Nikon, Cannon, and Olympus, which were good cameras, but this is the best so far; of course technology has changed, so I don't mean to short the others.

Best point and shoot camera so far!

  • Summary: This camera is absolutely amazing! We just got back from a two week vacation. I spent a week at the Disney parks and my last week was spent on the beach and in the keys. I had previously owned the Sony dsc-hx30v which I used on two vacations to Hawaii and the picture quality is spectacular. The HX50v is even better! Even taking pictures of fast subjects such as surfers come clear! I was so happy with this particular camera I purchased a second for my father...

Think twice

  • Summary: I purchased his camera October 2013 for simple use; family events, holiday, etc. I'm not a professional photographer, it's used maybe once a month. The camera takes beautiful pictures. However, there is now a major problem with the lens focusing. I have contacted Sony, but unfortunately its out of warranty and has to go out for repair, with a minimum cost of $100. I had a Canon for a decade prior to purchasing this Sony product and wore the Canon out.

Excellent Camera and Great for Video

Preston Tsao, Amazon

  • Summary: I had been looking for a compact camera to take pictures for Twitter, especially for curtain calls at the ballet and opera and at Broadway plays. These are challenging situations because of the low light and movement. IPhone 5 cameras are great under normal conditions, but the digital zoom just does not hack it for these purposes. I had a Canon PowerShot 300HS which is a wonderful little camera, but it lacked a sufficiently powerful optical zoom.

Powerhouse pocket camera......

  • Excerpt: This camera with the super zoom range is used to photograph dogs in the show ring, obedience ring and rally ring both indoors and outdoors. The special anti-shake mode works. The photos are sharp and bright. The small aperature at the long end is not an issue since I only use the long end for outdoor shots where there is plenty of light. I have used and enjoy the 180 and 360 panaramic mode...great results.
  • Pros: 20 Mp Sensor, Easy to Use, Great Panoramic Mode, Great Resolution, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Many Special Built-ins, Nice Video, Small / Compact
