Excellent camera with more features & better images than a point-and-shoot

Summary: This is a wonderful camera packed with all of the features that I need. I am an advanced amateur photographer that likes to take quick photos at times, but I also enjoy carefully setting up more creative photos or taking photos under demanding conditions where auto settings frequently fail to accurately capture an image. I regularly enlarge my photos to 11 x 14 and 16 x 20 for framing and this camera provides sufficient resolution for prints of this size.
I will try to find the exact same camera when my new one gives out.

Summary: This is an awesome camera! When my first Sony finally gave out I went on ebay to buy the exact same camera. My favorite feature is the close ups I take of flowers and bees. They are amazing. Refresh time is pretty quick too. Love all the options this camera has. It takes overall awesome pictures.
Summary: It is my second unit of this camera at home. It has got some worthy features over the previous HX9v that I also still own, horizon indicator for avoiding unbalanced pictures -wonder how I can make so many of my pics tilted when I swear I am doing them right!- , some effects with colours and good Hd video that makes our recordings like living in Directv! Hd video is really good!!
Summary: I have had this camera for about two years now, and it is wonderful. It's small and lightweight, so it doesn't look intimidatingly huge like the cameras with foot-long lenses, but it takes amazing photos with great zoom. One of my favorite features is the ability to take photos while videoing a scene. Perfect for recitals, sporting events, graduations. I have tried out all of the modes available, and it is truly one of the best buys I have ever made.
Summary: I absolutely love this camera. I had a older version of this camera and loved it too, but when video taping I could not zoom in or out, which was disappointing. This version is sleeker, zooms better and you can change the zoom while video taping. I have had big nicer cameras and videos in the past ,yes the expensive ones are much more capable than a small camera but who has the room to fit that in a purse or even juggling with all that bulky equipment.
Summary: I was looking for a smaller backup camera to my larger DSLR which is much heavier and bulkier. Although the smaller compact digital cameras are not as versatile as a good DSLR they nonetheless offer a lot of flexibility and convenience as well as pretty good quality images so long as you dont want to enlarge them to large. My HX20v at the time had the specs that I wanted and liked and the reviews were very favorable.
Summary: This camera is the perfect blend of size and quality. I have used it both for its photographic and video capabilities, and it has impressed me in both respects. Its a bit bulky to have in your pocket, however I use a small case strapped on a belt loop and you could easily forget its even there... but ready to use if you want to snatch it out for a quick pic. Look for test video on Youtube, especially how it performs in low light...you won't be disappointed.
After 2 months, this camera continues to impress me.

Summary: I did a great deal of research before choosing the Sony HX20V camera. This camera had a superior rating from all the photo-review sites, which allowed me to directly compare the Sony to many other brands -- feature-by-feature. Professional photographers will note that there is no "raw" format, and techies will note that there is no Wi-Fi connection (that is offered in a later version). Neither was important to me.
