Review Summary
Sony came out with its new 8-megapixel designed to appeal to families having athletes in their midst. This camera introduces Sony’s new advanced sports shooting mode. Sony changed some features between last year’s H5 and its latest megazooms, the Cyber-shot DSC-H9 and DSC-H7. An f/2.7-4.5 31mm-465mm 15x supersedes the 12x zoom of last year’s. Sony’s Cyber-Shot DSC H7 major feature is the image sensor, which increases resolution from 7 to 8-megapixels. Other new features include an even more powerful 15x image stabilized optical zoom lens. This camera is full of features, such as a 2.5 inch LCD screen, easy to use controls and an incredible exposure system. AA batteries are replaced by a proprietary lithium ion. It provides everything that an advanced photographer is looking for. Sony Cyber-Shot DSC H7 has great picture quality even with the full zoom on. The night shots are great due to its powerful flash. The display screen is bigger as compared to its older brother DSC-H2. The negative point is that the battery must be taken out every time when charging it though it’s quite lasting. A user complained that indoors photography takes too long to focus and the picture on the LED screen is not what was desired. However this problem could be solved by using the viewfinder. The electronic "viewfinder" can be seen in any light. The negative point of the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC H7 is that the dial switch is on the back of the camera making it somewhat inconvenient. Another user found the photos taken to be terrific, the mechanical aspects amazing, the hand-hold very comfortable and secure and the camera body is light and easy to handle. Moreover one must go around the different settings in order to get the required feature. But as soon as this is done it becomes the perfect pocket-friendly camera.

Sony DSC-H7
Reviewer: Steve's Digicams24 September 2007Upgrading the H5 for 2007 is the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC H7. One of the major updates on this model is the image sensor, which increases resolution from 7 to 8-megapixels. Other new features include an even more powerful Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 15x image stabilized optical zoom lens. This camera is full of features, such as a 2.5 inch LCD screen, easy to use controls and an incredible exposure system. Providing everything that an advanced photographer can ask for, wi... Read more

The last generation of big zoom Cyber-shots (the H2 and H5) offered purchasers an interesting choice; two almost identical cameras with a $100 price difference that bought you a bigger, higher resolution screen and an extra million pixels. That the H2 produced better high ISO output and showed marginally less fringing made the choice even more difficult. Our final conclusion was that the H2 offered far better value, but that the H5's screen alone might be enough to pu... Read more

Sony Cybershot DSC-H7 User Review
Reviewer: Digital Camera Review03 July 2007The H7 achieves what I believe its designers set out to achieve, that is namely, create a point and shoot camera with a massive zoom. The H7 is not a camera to get if you plan on delving into photography or plan on adjusting settings with any ease. However, if you want something you can just pick up, take great photos with (some of the time) and you appreciate the versatility that a 31-465mm lens gives you, then the H7 is the camera for you. Its video features are al... Read more

If you’re tired of the standard 3x optical zoom lens that comes on most digital cameras but you’re not sure you want to invest thousands of dollars in an SLR and lenses, you may want to consider an ultra-zoom digital camera. The 8.1-megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H7 has a 15x optical zoom lens that will give you close-up shots of your daughter’s ballet performance even when you’re in the back row. Read more

Overall I really enjoy the camera. It does have manual settings which is great, but there are also point and shoot settings. You are able to add an additional lens, which I love. Taking pics in bright sunlight is sometimes difficult, causing you to have to change your angle slightly. I can't add additional flash. Read more

Awesome Camera
Reviewer: Ritesh Sharma, Digitalcamera HQ24 December 2007- Overall 10

I researched a lot on cameras as I didn’t want to waste my hard earned money. First I read reviews of cannon and how it’s the best, but somehow I was not convinced by the overall performance reviews of cannon. At the end I decided to buy H7- and I couldn’t believe it. It’s just awesome. I have to say whatever sony makes, it the best and nobody can beat it. The focus of this camera is amazing and the best thing is image stabilizer. It has so many modes to shoot which m... Read more

There is hell of difference between SONY & SAMSUNG. First of all the support service provided by Sony seems to be cutting edge. One really hesitates since sony has standard accessories which cannot be duplicated or duplicates are not available... Read more
