Awesome camera, great deal on ebay.

Summary: Been wanting this baby for a long time. This camera feels like it is really. Pictures take are excellent, especially the night features. Even though, it is one the original 8.1 Megapixel camera to come out, I am still very impress. No, it does not compare to a DSLR camera. But it is a great camera to carry around for a fix len. Very happy, looking forward to use it.
One of the best all around cameras in recent history.

Summary: This is the second one I have purchased in the last 8 years. The most fun I have has with this camera, is using the infra red feature, that allows you to take crystal clear images, and video, in total darkness. I have used it to photograph wildlife in its own environment, without a flash, and the possibility of scaring the animals off. A forgotten jewel in the Sony line-up.
Great camera ! - has features that newer cameras don't have - but should!

Summary: I purchased one of these cameras new when they first came out. It takes great pictures and videos. I loved my camera and was very upset when it was stolen during a break-in at my home. I could have replaced it with a newer camera with more megapixels for the same price, but I wanted my camera back. It has features that other cameras didn't have (and most still don't have!) The lens and body are hinged which allows for high or low shots while still viewing the display.
Excerpt: Had it about 2 years now. I can think of no really bad things to say about it, a few minor ones but I suspect that they are of my own doing (LOL). I can honestly say if your thinking about buying one you will not regret it as it has enough features for the semi professional but its also easy for the amatures amongst us to use.
Summary: We purchased more than 50 of these cameras for our business and after testing more than 50 other brands we found that this camera takes the best quality pictures. This camera is superior because it has tha manual zoom and does not break like the electric zooms. I believe this camera is the best because it has a very large lens that allows more light into the camera. We will never use another brand nor model camera.
Summary: The best way I can describe the F828 is it's like the Swiss Army Knife of all prosumer cameras. It shoots in automatic mode, several manual modes like a dSLR, shoots jpeg and RAW images, has video capability and it has an infrared mode for shooting stills and video in total darkness. The body and lens are attached at a pivot point so the LCD can be viewed from over and under angles. The Carl Zeiss lens is 28 to 200mm with a max aperture of f/2.0.
Summary: This camera is the greatest invention for any old-school camera buff that is ready to get into todays digital age but still wants yesterday's versatility and control of the picture. This camera can do anything any high end 35mm SLR old-school professional camera could do and more. The major draw-back is that it can do so much more than the average person is used to that this camera should only be used by experienced photographers.
Summary: I have owned five Sony digital cameras: Mavica, F707, F717, F828, and Alpha 350. The F828 is, without a doubt, the most versatile, high quality camera in their history. It is true, my Alpha 350 has higher resolution and a bigger imaging chip, but it can't take macro or telephoto pictures without changing lenses... a HUGE disadvantage for an amateur photographer who wants an all-in-one solution.
Summary: As a former professional photographer I wanted to make the transition from 35mm and medium format film to digital. Several years ago I purchased an Olympus 2 MP digital camera which has a small digital zoom. It's OK for snapshots, but nothing more. I wanted a camera that had a fast lens, and felt substantial in my hands. After researching dozens of cameras I was getting frustrated until I found Sony made but discontinued the F828.
Summary: of course i must tell you that Sony is offering a buyback old cameras for credit on new one's, and quess what this model in mint condition will get you, how about "zero"... absolutely nothing, Sony states it will dispose of the camera for you, dispose of a mint condition f828 that has many years of life and enjoyment left, and I see some of these going/ask price of $500 dollars, of course they say brand new with warranty, but this camera is 6-7 years old and out of...
