I would highly reccomend going into a store to try the camera first as I would have changed my mind.

Summary: There are three parts to this camera that I do not like #1 is the button to use the telephoto is hard to use and located in an awkward place #2 the button for taking movies is hard to use as it is a push button and at times awkward to find , I believe should be in a better location on the camera #3 the tiny little door you have to open to connect your cord to download photos isn't made well to stand up to opening & closing many times over
Summary: The camera is a good product, but if you have problems, the warranty customer service is TERRIBLE! My battery door would no longer stay closed. I sent it back and didn't hear anything for a month. When I called the rep told me I needed to give him the serial number, so he could track it down. He verified that they had received it, but couldn't find it. I asked him why it was my responsibility to find the serial number, which is on the camera that is at your facility.
Outer shell broke twice. Too bad. Decent camera otherwise.

Summary: I have no issue with the actual camera functions of this camera. It does what other reviewers say it does. Picture quality much better than others in its price class, and for that reason I love it. But... I've had to send it back twice now because the actual body of the camera (the outer shell or casing) broke on both the original and replacement. Two cameras in 5 months, and this my spare camera so it's not like it gets a lot of use. What a shame it's made so cheaply.
The camera takes great pictures and it is very sturdy

Summary: The camera takes great pictures and it is very sturdy. The only complaint is that the video is in AVCHD format. I had no idea how much of a pain this format was, until I tried to video record a few things. It doesn't work with most programs and you can not upload the video directly to the internet. I cannot do anything with the video. If you intend on only taking pictures, this is a good camera with excellent battery life.
It takes good pics but the camera itself has issues.

Summary: I got this for Christmas last year (2013) and I loved it...well until about 2 mths ago that is. It started doing odd things and every time I put my SD card in I can only take 40pics before it says the memory is full. I have no idea why it says that. I upload my pics multiple times throughout the day to my computer so the SD is always empty from the previous uses. When I first got it I could have 300 pics or more on there at a time and now it won't let me go past 45 max!
Summary: We have owned these before. There are two problems with these cameras. (1) They take a long time to focus. The newer versions are getting better but it is still not to the point of (point and shoot) which is how they are advertised. (2) The pictures taken with this camera are not editable. They are read only. If you take a picture with the camera vertical and want to flip the image, you have to go into properties for each and every image to turn off read only.
Summary: I used a previous model before getting this one. This one has more zoom and higher res video, plus the wifi feature is neat. Older one, however, had a bigger screen, and more importantly, the videos could upload to my Mac. I'm still working on it but this model's AVCHD video format won't download along with the pics via my mac's iPhoto app. I'm sure there are some work arounds but that's a pain.
Summary: i am long time cannon user, but this time i decide to buy this Sony, as i like the function of smile shutter and panorama affect, but when i used the camera, it was really soft and battery life was really really shot. i used it during my daughter's birthday party, before the party end, i recharged 2 times, as most of the happy moments are over during charging. i m regret that i bought this. next time i will surely buy cannon.
