The Sony Cyber-Shot WX5 is a digital camera that supports up to 5x Optical Zoom and 10z digital zoom. Zoom range can be extended up to 31x with the Smart Zoom function (in VGA mode). The digital camera features a focal length of 4.25-21.25mm (24-120mm 35 mm equivalent), approximately 5cm (0.16') to Infinity on wideangle and 90cm (2.95') to Infinity telephoto. The camera is supported by a 1/2.3 inch Exmor™ R CMOS sensor that provides users with 12.2 effective pixels (mega pixels), and is powered by a Bionz processor. The Sony Cyber-Shot WX5 also supports Face Detection, Smile Shutter, Intelligent Sweep Panorama, 3D Sweep Panorama, Clear RAW NR, 9 points Auto Focus Area (Multi Point), Auto Focus Area (Centre weighted), Auto Focus Area (Spot), Tracking Focus, Aperture Auto Mode, shutter speeds such as 2“ - 1/1,600 on iAuto mode and 1” - 1/1,600 on program auto mode; Hand Shake Alert, +/- 2.0EV, 1/ 3 EV step exposure control, White Balance adjustments such as Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Fluorescent1, Fluorescent2, Fluorescent3, Incandescent, Flash, One Push and One Push Set; Automatic White Balance (Under water) and Light Metering (Multi Pattern, spot and centre weighted). The camera supports up to 3200 ISO sensitivity and allows users to choose from up to 8 scene modes to capture their images. These include Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Twilight using a tripod, Backlight, Backlight Portrait, Landscape, Macro and Portrait. It also supports auto flash mode, Pre-flash mode, Red-eye Reduction, Optical SteadyShot capability, and a 7.0cm / 2.8“ TFT LCD to compose or show images captured. The display has Auto Bright Monitoring function that adjusts screen brightness according to ambient lighting. The digital camera supports recording medias such as Memory Stick™ Duo (still only) and Memory Stick PRO Duo™ (Mark2 only for movie). It also supports SD Memory Card (Class4 or Higher for movie) and SDHC/SDXC Memory Card (Class4 or Higher for movie). It has a 32 MB internal memory. Other features on the Sony Cyber-Shot WX5 include supports for JPEG DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) file format, Burst Mode (shots) at 10 fps (10 shots), AVCHD recording, Slideshow Playback, trimming function, Auto grouping and & Best Picture Recognition, PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol), and is powered by an NP-BN1 battery that provides users with up to 230 shots, 115 min (CIPA standard with LCD screen on) on a single charge. The digital camera also supports 3D Sweep Panorama that allows them to sweep the camera from side to side and capture extra-wide 3D panoramic images. Other features on the camera include Sweep Multi Angle where users can shoot a burst of images to see their subject with a 3D effect from different angles; 1080i Full HD movie recording capability using AVCHD format (1920x1080i) with HD playback options; a 12.2 megapixel image supports that allow for detail enlargements; a 7.1cm/2.8“ Clear Photo LCD display with 460k dot screen; background defocus function that lets users create professional-looking images with a sharp foreground subject against a smoothly blurred background; high-speed continuous shooting up to 10 frames per second; double anti-blur with Optical SteadyShot and high sensitivity ISO 3200, with Clear RAW Noise Reduction; Backlight Correction HDR which gives balanced results with high contrast when shooting strongly backlit scenes and Face Detection which adjusts focus, exposure and white balance for clearer portraits. It also features Smile Shutter which automatically fires shutter when subject smiles, Soft Skin mode which automatically retouches portraits, removing blemishes and boosting skin tone; D-Range Optimizer which adjusts exposure and contrast for natural results in high-contrast scenes and backlit portraits; HD output that lets users view video and still images on HD TV (requires optional cable); Easy Shooting mode for optimized operation with simplified controls and on-screen instructions; PMB Portable which is a built-in transfer software that allows uploads to image sharing sites when camera is connected to any web-enabled PC and in-camera retouching.
