Conclusion: The Sony Cyber-shot W5 is a camera with great photo quality, excellent battery life, lots of accessories and solid build. What the W5 lacks is real manual controls, a LCD of higher resolution, better continuous shooting and some better photos
Pros: Excellent battery life, Rechargeable batteries included in the box, Large and clear 2.5 inch LCD, Many of scene modes, Lots of accessories, Excellent movie mode, USB 2.0 High-speed interface
Cons: Limited manual controls, Too much red-eye, High noise levels, Low resolution LCD, Mediocre continuous shooting feature, No fast shutter or portrait scene modes

Excerpt: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 ($249) is a compact 6 Megapixel camera with a 3X optical zoom lens, 2.5" LCD display, VGA movie mode, and point-and-shoot operations. One of the other big features on the W50 is its high sensitivity mode, which can boost the ISO to 1000 for sharp, blur free photos (though we'll check the noise levels later in the review).
Pros: Very good photo quality in most situations (though see issues below), Low noise levels for its class through ISO 400, Compact, stylish body comes in silver and black, Snappy performance, Large 2.5" LCD display (though resolution could be better), AF-assist lamp, good but slow low light focusing, Above average battery life, Nice movie mode, Optional conversion lenses, filters, and underwater case, Support for USB 2.0 High Speed protocol
Cons: Color saturation changes at ISO 800 and 1000; noise levels limit you to small, mediocre quality prints at those settings, Redeye, Focusing can be slow at telephoto end of lens or in low light, Unimpressive continuous shooting mode, No manual controls; custom white balance and shutter speed controls needed, as shown in the photo tests, No Mac software included
Conclusion: The Sony Cyber-shot W50 takes most of the W5's features and puts them into a smaller package. The W50 is about 10% smaller than the W5 yet features a 6 megapixel CCD, 3x zoom lens with the same specifications, excellent battery life and can still support conversion lenses! But gone are the limited (but useful) manual controls from the W5. The Cyber-shot W50 maintains the large LCD found on the W5 but sadly, also maintains its lack of resolution and visibility.
Pros: Large 2.5 inch LCD, Excellent battery life, Conversion lens compatibility, Flash control is better than most, Gets very close with 2 cm macro mode, Great high ISO performance (Even ISO 1000 shots are acceptable), Unlimited VGA 30 FPS movie mode, Very good image quality
Cons: LCD visibility and resolution not excellent, Zoom lever is too easy to bump, No manual controls, Slow and limited continuous shooting, Performance could be faster and better, Redeye, Memory Sticks can be costly

Summary: A tavaly útjára indított DSC-W sorozat ma két új taggal bővült.
