The Cyber-shot W350 also features 720p HD video (with the ability to optically zoom while filming), a decent-sized 2.7in screen, foolproof shooting in fully Automatic with scene detection, shutters and timers which can be triggered by faces or smiles and Sony's neat Sweep Panorama mode which cleverly stitches together a series of photos taken with a casual pan of the camera. So the Sony W350 is a small, tight digital camera that takes 14-megapixel images for about $200. Not bad! Unfortunately, this is no slam dunk and I cannot recommend this camera wholeheartedly without noting its flaws. Yes, it's an unbelievably compact wide-angle point-and-shoot that does a fine job when there's plenty of light. Sweep Panorama is a great feature, too, but again you need the proper light. Read more

Experts are impressed that the tiny Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W350 packs plenty of features, including a 14.1-megapixel sensor, 26 mm wide-angle lens that takes solid close-up shots (4x optical zoom), 2.7-inch LCD and HD video (720p). Weighing just 4.1 ounces and measuring less than 0.7 of an inch thick, it "almost fits inside an Altoid candy tin," says David Elrich at Imaging-Resource.com. Read more

I paying close attention to the kind of lens my cameras have. This one comes with a Carl-Zeiss 4x zoom, and I found it to have bias towards being wide-angled . Also when it comes to lenses, I generally prefer less zoom range if it means that I would get higher quality photos. This seems to be the approach that Sony took in designing this phone. Read more

I purchased this camera to have a small point and shoot in addition to my SLR. From the time I clicked the button to take a picture, to the time that the picture was actually recorded, my child was out of the frame altogether. This is absolutely not acceptable given that I have kids in sports and also have small children. I think the picture quality is good if no one is moving, and the camera is compact in size. Read more

    • It's easy to figure out how to use it

Pro - picture quality is very good for most outdoor shots. I've been happy with the color and sharpness of these shots. Cons - video quality is quite grainy. Also, the camera on automatic continually tries to refocus when you are shooting a moving scene so the result is a in-focus/out-of-focus tug-of-war. I haven't been able to figure out how to keep the focus on infinity in video mode. Read more or see product

Bought this camera for my girlfriend for her birthday based on the experiences I've had with the DSC-100. The 350 is a great camera for a novice user. Picture quality is excellent as are most other things. The one drawback is the lag time, but in most cases it can be overcome and shouldn't deter most people from purchasing this camera. Read more

I've used the DSC-W350 for a year and it is a really great camera. 14.1 megapixels give you sharp images like portraits and landscapes in good conditions. It's small and lightweight, is very nicely designed, and has an easy menu for adjusting while in manual mode. It is surprisingly good at macro for it's price range, and is better than many other compacts that I have come across. Very good for a first camera, it will get you interested into photography.
