Summary: I thought it would be like the camera I recently lost (stolen, actually) which I guess was the W170 with more options , such as changing of colorre was taken. Also, the ad said "red" which was my preferred color and this one is black. I am sorry I did not get the better camera which would probably have been the W170 which I had before Sorry.
Summary: WHY CAN'T I GIVE NEGATIVE STARS? DON'T BUY THIS OR ANY OTHER SONY CAMERA!!!!! Sony makes crap cameras and their support will accuse you of breaking it. Purchase from a respectable camera maker like Canon, Nikon, or Fuji. I bought this for snorkeling and it corrupted my memory card on the first trip. OK, $10,000 trip with no pictures, because the camera corrupted the memory. Called Sony and they blamed the memory. Got two new memory cards for the next trip.
Excerpt: I've picked up this camera during a Sony promotion and was excited to replace my aging Lumix. Have read review after review and decided that this one was a good balance between price and performance. Me and my wife both soon started hating this camera. It takes.. ok pictures in the daytime. I think about half are decent, half are poor. It has a hard time focusing correctly and the images are often washed out. Now for low light performance.
Summary: I purchased this product from an independent dealer through Amazon. It was advertised as used but in perfect working order. This product was received with the lens extended, i.e. in the "on" position. This in spite of the fact that there was no battery in it. I installed a battery but was not able to retract the lens. I also purchased a case for this camera for which I had no use when the camera was inoperable.
Summary: I had a much earlier Sony cyber-shot model that took great pictures, but after years of use it started to have battery problems. We bought this as a replacement... what a rip-off! This camera takes terrible pictures! They are always blurry and the color is bad! I have tried all the settings and everything I could think of. I DO NOT recommend this camera at all!
Sony has replaced quality with lower price, smaller size

Summary: Drat! I should have paid more attention to the negative reviews! I own a DSC-W100 that takes very sharp photos. However, it is starting to act up, so I bought a DSC-W150 for a trip to Africa, mostly because of its longer zoom range (30-150 mm equivalent instead of 38-114 mm equivalent). It arrived only a couple of days before the trip, so I did an incomplete job of checking it out -- my fault, of course.
Summary: Let me first say that I have taken many photography classes. I have owned many, many cameras. Photography is my hobby. I bought this camera because I thought it was a good deal for an 8.1 megapixel camera. I needed something small to take with me in my bag so that I could capture moments with my 17 month old son. 1. The image quality is not sharp. Many pictures are blurry, with a ghostly effect. 2.
Summary: Got the camera on Christmas day 2008. It stopped working on Christmas day 2009. Warranty period is 1 year - repair cost is $121 plus shipping. This camera was not dropped or misused. Most of the pictures taken by the camera were shot in my house of products I sell. The screen displays a message "turn power off and on again", but doing so does not resolve the problem. While researching solutions, I discovered that many, many owners have had this problem.
Summary: Well let me tell you where I come from first so that you guys know that I am not just trying to criticize this. I have owned 3 sony cybershot cameras before and let me tell you, this is the worst one of them all. The last camera I purchased was DSC-P150 from over two years ago, and pictures looked fantastic!! With or without the flash. Colors were always crisp, sharpness was excellent very very sharp!
Summary: Bought this camera to replace our Fugi S3000 3.2 Mpix Digi Camera. It had great reviews and everything works as advertised (the smile shutter is very cool) expect the most important thing, the PICTURE! The picture really stinks. It is VERY hard to take crisp pictures with this camera. The pictures are all very soft and almost out of focus. Unfortuneately we kept the camera beyond the return period or I would definately return it.
