Excerpt: This is a good functional camera, which i find easy to use. The camera boasts a variety of features, including video recording with decent quality. This is a great bonus for the holiday trips or sport events, and with a good size memory card you can record up to an hour of film! Its an impressive piece of equipment. The camera has black and white picture mode, and sepia tone. A useful feature are the effects of changing exposure.
Excerpt: I personally felt the need to buy a good camera about 2years ago, and after much research i decided that the w12 was problably the best. I think the black looks really cool especially as it comes with a case and spare batteries. It is so simple to use and although I think there are many upgrades now and the w12 is probly not available to buy, i would definatly recommend getting a sony cybershot within the same range.
Summary: This is my first digital camera. I thought long and hard about which type and model to buy. the W12 came highly recommended in a camera magazine, but I thought I couldn't afford to buy it. Amazons price beat all others, so I was ready to buy it - then I got it as a birthday prezzy anyway. Anyway back to the camera......The photos are great, with lots of flash modes, and settings that need experimenting with first, but hey, just delete and try your photo a different way.
Summary: Having scoured the market for value for money camera with all the features i wanted, i hit on the Sony DSC-W12 - chosen over the 1 as the other reviewer as extra batteries and a case can cost, plus to have a black camera when everyone else's are silver adds kudos! Am extremely satisfied with all aspects - the large back screen is a real bonus when showing off your pics to those you ahve just snapped.
Summary: Bought digicameras for the family, Fuji, Olympus, Cannon - tried them out myself, found out what I didnt like and then looked around for one myself. I have now had the W12 for 3 weeks and it satisfies totally. I need a compact camera as I do a lot of hiking and this sits on my belt ready for action. The controls are easy to use - but I have a small niggle in that the function selection wheel can move too easily when getting the camera out of its case.
Summary: This is a very very good digital camera at a really reasonable price. I won;t rehash what the other reviews have said: for me, there's a very long list of positive reasons to buy, and great features. I thought it'd just be more valabuable to list its (few) failings to balance everything out. - The auto focus is occasionally unresponsive.
