I could get a better camera out of a gumball machine.

Brian, Amazon
15 August 2014
  • Summary: I bought a 5.1 mp Sony DSC-W1 in 2005 and use it to this day. In general, the DSC-W1 takes better pictures than the DSC-S2100 I hoped to replace it with. The only time I could get a clear shot with the DSC-2100 was when my subject was flooded with light AND I used the flash; otherwise, my pictures were always a blurry mess. My old DSC-W1 is no great prize, either, but pictures are reasonably sharp indoors and crystal-clear outdoors.

Eats batteries daily

dianetavegia "Diane", Amazon
20 March 2014
  • Summary: Received this as a present and within months, the camera began to eat through batteries after only a few photos. I started taking the batteries out after each use, thinking that would help. NOPE. I changed battery brand. NOPE. I called Sony and they'd love to repair it (at a charge). NOPE. I do not recommend this camera due to the constant cost to replace batteries. I'll throw it away.

  • Summary: Wow, I never thought I would buy a digital camera and it not include a SD Memory card. It has AA batteries, but the batteries don't help when you have no memory card to store photos. I purchased this camera as a birthday gift for my fiancee's daughter who lives in South America...I am glad I opened the box to check on the camera before I took it to her. It would have been a disappointing gift to receive a camera and not be able to use it. Bad move on Sony's part.

  • Summary: I bought this camera, and it arrived DOA. The image sensor was shot so I had to have it exchanged. The next one the picture quality was blurry at best. For random shots I think it's good, but over all not the quality I'd expect from Sony.

  • Summary: Save your money unless you have enoiugh money to buy batteries ever 5 shots! How people are rating this camera 5 stars is beyond me! It takes AA batteries or rechargeable AA batteries (not included). THe description also states the AA batteries provides 85 shots or 170 minutes of "still" images. I have used both grade "A" AA batteries and some good AA rechargable batteries and both only last about 5 to 8 shots! Whih makes you miss you chance of a great shot, or any shot!

Defective and Bad Customer Service

No more sony cybershot, Amazon
6 July 2011
  • Summary: This camera's LCD began to have spots after 6 months after I purchased in Nov 2010. Although I have done nothing wrong (like dropping into the water) for the camera, Sony representatives have refused to repair under the 1 year warranty. They said that it has moisture in the LCD and that is the reason why they cannot fix it for free. How can you make such an absurd assertion when you (Sony) have sold the defective one to a customer?
