Summary: Poor quality camera. Will never buy Sony product again. Poor customer service, unable to comprehend that they sold me a defective product. Original camera was defective, never powered on sent back for new camera. New camera worked fine for about 6 months and was only used sparingly.

Summary: The HX-30 and (20, 10 and later models too) are simply astounding for the class of camera called "Compact Super Zoom." While no match ultimately for a DSLR Micro Four Thirds system, this is a high end "point and shoot" camera that is perfect for what I got it for -- traveling or events where I want...
2 warranty repairs for the SAME issue, and now it needs another repair for the SAME issue but it's out of warranty!

Summary: Somehow dust or particles are getting inside the lens causing dark spots to appear in my images. I always keep it in a case (never directly in a pocket). In the first year that I owned it, I had to send it to Sony twice for the same issue. They replaced the lens, and the dark spots went away.
Summary: This camera was supposed to be our compromise - we wanted a better camera with a great zoom that wasn't too big to carry around. Nothing about it is a compromise. The colors are vivid, the zoom is amazing, and - for the first time ever - I can take pictures inside, at night, and get action shots...
Summary: This camera takes wonderful pictures and movies every time. I find that it's almost hard to take a bad picture with it. Detail and color rendition are superb. This camera has a mountain of features and capabilities. I confess to not having the time to explore all of them.

Summary: After I dropped and hurt my DSLR EOS, I knew I didn't want a big camera again, but i was addicted to the qualities, especially zoom capacity and ability to manipulate speed and aperture. I shoot under varying conditions, indoors and out.
Summary: I would classify myself as a "serious picture-taker" more than an amateur photographer mainly because I'm more concerned with effectively capturing moments than focusing on the artistic qualities of photographs.
Summary: Here's a short version of my review: What I love most about this camera: the zoom, stabilizer, WIFI, grip, panorama, fast shutter What I wasn't so excited about: The 18MP quality has a lot of detail loss.
