Excerpt: This camera is one of the best that sony has made (out of all of its ultra zoom cameras). The camera has amazing ultrazoom capabilities, not to mention the best panorama mode I have ever seen! The fact that it can shoot 10 clear pictures per second is amazing I highly recommend that you buy this camera. Reviewer is an employee or otherwise affiliated with the brand.
Excerpt: We used too have a bigger canon camera but my wife wanted a camera that would fit in her purse but I still wanted a camera that took great photos and this camera was the ultamite compromise! This camera is great because it has a rechargeable battery meaning we don't have to go through a ton of batteries. It takes great pictures.
Summary: I have to say that my experience is good so far! When i received he camera(my 3rd digital cam)we were leaving the that morning to go to Disney's Magic Kingdom in Orlando,so i charged up the battery for approx. 1.5 hours, and although it wasn't fully charged up when i left home, the battery lasted the entire 6 hours that we spent there. Now,because i didn't get to peruse the camera or instructions,i simply set it to Intelligent Mode, and started to shoot away, and yes i have...
Excerpt: After 6-months the camera is almost perfect--love the build quality, feature to include great video and hand held twilight! The EVF is too small for realistic use--I have cataracts..Image quality far surpasses my Sony P-200 and is better than my film SLR using 400asa film..I photograph wildlife and the 560mm zoom is almost perfect!
Excerpt: I bought the HX1 just few days ago. I have also a DSC-H9. The HX1 has almost the same body of H9 but include some advanced functions. Of course, we can't compare HX1 with other advanced DSLR cameras. Yes, 9 MP could be not enough but, image quality comparing the H9 (8MP) is superior. better colors, better image options, functions, and for shooting, the HX1 is faster. Zoom could be greater but 20x is good. The steady image mechanism is awesom.
Excerpt: Sony's impressive HX1 superzoom camera features a 20x Sony "G" wide angle zoom lens (28mm-560mm),optical SteadyShot (Sony's form of optical image stabilisation, a 9MP Exmor CMOS sensor and a cool sweep panorama mode plus manual controls,a large 3.0" tilting LCD and a EVF plus HD movie recording (1080P). It uses a lithium battery pack (NP-FH50) instead of AA batteries.
Summary: This is just a quickie with the camera straight out of the box. I'll update the stars later. (Updated March 11, 2010) 1. It takes a trained monkey to attach the lens cover to the camera so it doesn't fly off into the wilderness. First you get a thin paper clip and make it into a straight wire with a long narrow hook at one end. Insert the hook through the tiny eyelet in the attaching cord, then pull both strands of the cord through the eyelet to make a loop.
Summary: I have had this camera for two days and have experimented with it by taking over 250 pictures using both automatic and manual setting. I read on CNET review that this camera's photo quality is not that great. That is half true. The picture will not turn out sharp and clear if you always use automatic settings; however, manual mode with the correct settings will result in dslr-like photo quality.
Summary: ** Modified 05-08-09 by adding nitpick #5 :) *** I had been a digital point-and-shoot camera person for about 12 years, since the Canon Powershot 100. Over that time, I've upgraded to various Powershot models until 2 years ago, got a Sony A100 DSLR. I love that camera and have lots of fun taking pictures with it. For work, we had been using my A100 to take product photos. It was nice having a remote, and all of the great DSLR features that come along with that camera.
