Excerpt: I purchased this camera as a precursor to getting into the DSLR league. I have been washing my hands on this model for the past 1½ years and should say that its a lovely camera for close-ups and portraits.
Summary: My purpose of buying this camera is to shoot nocturnal animals with adequate budget. First time I saw DSC-H9 on the web, I thought this was the one. This camera must allow me to take IR shots with no difficulty. But I was wrong. All that in the photo I had taken were gloomy ambiguous.
Summary: This is probably as good a camera an amateur photographer needs. Everything seemed to be just right, and the amount of time it takes to learn how to use it is very short. The steady shots are just superb.
Excerpt: The perfect camera for idiots: everything is auto; problem is that as your skill grow, you want to do more and better and that camera do not let you do anything. Forget to picture very close, forget to take picture at low light, forget to have details and sharpness..the camera will not let you!
Excerpt: After having this camera for two years, I give it a average its not a bad camera, I like the zoom, the pics from it are good to and frankly who prints pics, you go on Vacation and download into the computer, your iphone/touch etc. The price was way to high.
Excerpt: Cyber-shot DSC-H9 Digital Camera is a pretty good camera if are you looking for something that is a bit cheaper. The only reason I say that this is cheaper is because it is an older model from a couple of years ago, and find that if you are looking …
Excerpt: Basically rubbish. I would like to say so many positive things about this camera because it is really well made and has some great features. My particular favourites are the huge LCD, the image stabiliser, the massive zoom, the quality of the lens, which is also quiet in operation.
Summary: I have two other Sony cameras, but this one is the best by far. It is compact enough as not to be cumbersome to carry. It gives high resolution photos even at far distances. The action mode gives clear pictures of moving players. The image stabilization works very well with no blurred pictures.
Summary: I've read the other reviews and I agree that it takes some work and experience to understand the settings. Someone needs to produce a "Missing Manual" for this camera. Sony is no help with either information on product use or product knowledge.
