Summary: This was a birthday gift for my 13 year and after taking a looking at the cam and playing around with it I was so impressed I want to buy for myself!!! I love it and so did my daughter! Takes beautiful keen shots and they look professional. Awesomeness!!!! - However, I we didn't get too many uses out of it after two weeks, the camera ended up defected because the shutter did not close when being shut off and there is a buzzing sound like trying to do its thing and shut...
Sony Quality is going down - Bought 3 digital cameras and all broke...
25 October 2012
Summary: I'll preface this review by saying that I'm a lifelong Sony customer. I've purchased their products for years. TVs, DVD players, digital cameras, video cameras, etc. Before, you bought a Sony and you could depend on a quality product, typically lasting forever. Those days seem to be gone. I purchased 3 Sony digital cameras for my family and myself. Last Christmas I gave my mother in law this camera. The quality has gone way down.
Summary: I like the camera and all of the features but the dust inside the lense is horrible and requires returning to a service center to correct. I use this camera for documenting home inspections and there is so much dust inside the lens that I can no longer use the photos. Dust bunnies are not great but allowable under the bed but not acceptable in a camera!
Summary: The lens in this camera is bloody awful and results in pictures that curve at the edges. It's called the fish-eye effect I believe. Do not buy this camera if you want beautiful pictures that you want to hang around the house. People will think you took them on a kids toy camera. On the other hand, the video is pretty good and the audio is pretty good at not distorting with loud noises. It's only at 64kbps though, so dont expect great audio.
Summary: If you're looking for a compact, simple to use digital camera that takes good photos, look elsewhere. I'm pretty good with digital cameras and typically try most of the superfluous features on them - but this camera (Cyber-Shot DSC H70) just doesn't take good photos even with all of the fiddling with features.
Summary: I bought this camera as an upgrade but it's not much of an upgrade when the pictures appear somewhat pixelated. I read some reviews stating the same problem but I still decided to buy it. I guess for the money it's an ok product, but i was just expecting a little more quality on the pictures. The zoom is not that great either, but the only thing i like about this camera is the video, and the software it comes with, it organizes all your pictures really well.
Summary: The pro side of this camera is close-up pictures. It does an exellant job. You can litterally be INCHES from the subject, where as my DSLR, even using the 50mm I must be around a foot away from subject. The downside, It does a horrible job focusing on distant subjects, as well as moving subjects. I tried taking arial shots, and about 80% did NOT trun out. Focus was either non existant, blurred, or fuzzy.
Summary: I bought this camera based on the reviews, without a demo. This was a BIG mistake. It has an exceptionally long "processing" time once you click the shutter of around 4 seconds, you don't see a freeze frame, but a black screen during that time. At the end of the 4 second delay, it FLASHES the image very quickly, in less than a second. If you want to see what you have, you have to mash buttons to go and look at it.
Summary: Certainly a full featured, easy to use camera. I bought it for the larger lens, hoping for improved quality. Shooting medium to distant is good, anything close up gets a fisheye distortion. I'm really very disappointed with the camera.
Summary: This camera has a preprogrammed "beep" that sounds every single time you press any button. You can turn it down from obnoxiously loud to just anoying enough to make everyone within a 500 feet turn to look at you, but it has no option to turn the sound off. If you plan on capturing a sleeping baby or a school play, this camera is definitely not for you.
