Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10

CNET

  • Summary: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 is a decent budget megazoom that can deliver very nice outdoor shots, but its photo quality falls short in other respects.
  • Pros: Capable of excellent photos outdoors in good light; compact and comfortable.
  • Cons: No semimanual exposure modes; lens distortion; no zooming during movie capture; poor high-ISO noise profile; so-so auto white balance indoors.

DP Review
28 December 2008
  • Conclusion: I mentioned in the introduction to this review that the only apparent difference between the Sony DSC-H10 and its predecessor - the H3 which we reviewed in January - is the size and resolution of the screen. So it won't come as a surprise that this conclusion is not much different to the one I wrote for the H3.
  • Pros: Reliable 'point and shoot' performance, Good image quality in good light; bright, sharp images with immediate 'consumer friendly' appeal, Powerful flash with slow synch mode, Efficient image stabilization, Good zoom range (although only starting at 38mm), Compact dimensions for the zoom range, Reliable exposure system in most shooting conditions, Large, clear screen (but prone to fingerprint smearing), Good edge-to-edge sharpness, Good detail at lowest ISO settings, S...
  • Cons: No real wide angle, Manual mode only offers 2 F-stop settings, Slow, unreliable focus in low light, Only basic external controls, Longwinded menu structure, All-plastic body, Non-standard video/USB connector, Combined effects of noise and noise reduction at high ISOs and in low light produces poor results, Noise reduction effects visible even at low ISO settings, Menus and review mode can feel a little sluggish, HDTV output requires additional equipment, Tendency to c...

Pocket Lint
4 March 2009
  • Pros: Features, ease of use, handling, low ISO image quality
  • Cons: Price (for resolution), no optical viewfinder, small zoom buttons, odd lens hood attachment, high ISO noise issues, many "advanced" controls buried within menus

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10

PhotographyBLOG

  • Summary: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10, an evolutionary upgrade to last year's H3, is a compact, responsive and versatile superzoom with an effective image-stabilisation system. If the strangely shaped hand-grip and the plastic body do not inspire confidence at first, don't let these initial impressions fool you: this is the type of camera that grows on you as you use it more and more.

Test: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 (Digitalkamera)

CHIP Online
28 August 2008
