Summary: So far I love it, I was forced to switch from my old Minolta 35mm camera as it was getting hard to find 800 film locally, and the places that I used to get film developed refused to return my negatives (real cheesy of them), so I made the big leap to digital...buying the Sony body allowed me to keep my Quantaray AF lenses, really the Sony was my only option as I did not want to go out and spend another $700-$1000 or more, on additional lenses for a different brand of...
Great DSLR, really useful and versatile for the price!

Summary: I purchased this camera a couple of years ago as an upgrade to my Sony A350 photo cam, and to finally get into the Full HD DSLR video boom that recently took off worldwide. I'm glad with my purchase, and I have shot thousands of photos and videos with it, from family pictures, to reference pictures for my digital artwork, to small experimental films, to music videos, to 30 minute documentaries. The EVF, the 60 FPS FHD recording have proved to be really useful.
Summary: Well the electronic viewfinder and fast shooting are great options to have. I have Nikon D700 and was looking for something with solid video. Video is really excellent (issues with focusing noises if you do not have the expensive Sony lenses - can be solved by cheap external mic - not comfortable though) but the image quality (I know I am probably spoiled by FX sensor) is nothing special and the RAW handling software from Sony is disaster.
Summary: I had a Nikon D5000, but ordered this one when I heard about the video capabilities. I love video taping my three young sons, and the HD, continuous focus, and awesome sound makes it so real! I highly recommend for anyone wanting to record things they never want to forget, either in video or photo.
Summary: Received camera shortly after purchase! the only thing wrong that was not mentioned was that the rubber on the electronic view finder was missing. other than that this was perfect camera with a better than average battery charger.
The A57 may be the best of the Alpha series cameras.

Summary: I selected the A57 out of all of the Alpha series cameras and believed that this model is the flagship model, the best of the series. I also compared it to other popular SLR cameras. I believe that the quality and sharpness of photographs taken with this camera are top notch, a result of the large 23 X 15mm CMOS sensor. Both the LCD and the EVF displays are also top notch, and live view is very convenient.
Summary: A great camera that looked brand new and has been working great for now. I did a lot of research before purchasing the camera, I was specifically looking for a $400 -ish camera which would shoot good video and from what I ready the sony SLT technology does just that.. so I'm loving it..
Summary: I bought this Camera, because I own several Lenses from my former Minolta Dynax 7007i, and I wanted to use them in future, which only is possible in using Sony-Cameras, as Sony merged with Minolta (as far as I know). And it works wonderful, the Lenses I own fit perfectly for the A 57; the Camera itself has lots and lots of other possibillities which I just began to explore, and so it was a very good compromise to buy and use this formidable Camera body with the Lenses I...
