Features

The Sony A550 is based around Sony Exmor CMOS image sensors and feature sensor resolutions of fourteen megapixels with ISO sensitivities ranging from a minimum of 200 to a maximum of 12,800 equivalents. It has an articulated LCD displays which can be tilted vertically upwards or downwards, with 921,600 dot panel support, SD / SDHC and Memory Stick Duo / PRO Duo cards support, capable of shooting bursts of five frames per second through the optical viewfinder, or four frames per second in live view mode as well as an additional burst mode which allows a seven frames per second with either the viewfinder or live view (focus and exposure are locked from the first frame). The Sony Alpha DSLR-A550 is able to capture as many as 14 Raw, 32 Fine JPEG, 116 Standard JPEG or seven Raw+JPEG frames in a single burst. It also features in-camera handheld HDR mode which captures two images and micro-aligns them in-camera, then combines them into a single image with increased dynamic range. The Alpha DSLR-A550 is priced at $950 (body only) and is available in a bundle with an 18-55mm kit lens, which will add $100 to the body-only cost.
