Summary: I was a bit hesitant being a Canon guy for so long,But the Sony brand does the job and does it well, the Best thing is they will take any A-mount lens that can be bought cheap used in the bay. You can get a Nice 50mm lens used for 50 bucks that is prime quality..Great Body,ISO only goes down to 200 but no big deal,IS is built into the body and works well. Very happy with it.
Summary: This is a tank of a camera that takes great shots! Especially in RAW. It's a little on the heavy side but it really does handle very well. I bought this as a backup camera to an A-33 but it quickly became my preferred camera for shoots. This is easily the best camera I've ever owned or put my hands on for straight shooting. You will have to pry it from my cold dead fingers to get it away from me.
Pros: Decent burst mode, Build quality, features, battery life, design, lens options are cheap, tilt screen is a life saver!
Cons: heavy, no video, odd placement of a couple of buttons is weird. Mostly just the top ones.
Summary: The Sony A500 is a great camera for both people new to digital photography and those with experience in it. It is fairly light weight and easy to get use to. Sony has a great selection of lens and you have the huge number of the great Minolta lens to choose from. Sony makes a great digital camera with which you can take many breath taking pictures with for many years to came.
Summary: I LOVE my A500! It is my second DSLR and the pictures are amazing in low light and sunshine. It is much better than my first, and cheeper! I have used almost every setting and I haven't had any issues with picture quality. It is a little louder than my first but not by much. I have had mine for over a year and have taken around 12,000 pics. I have never commented on anything before but there few things in life I like more than my camera.
Summary: Great Camera and a great price. Be aware, it does not do video. That was something I did not notice before I purchased it. There have been several time I could have used that function while on the road.
Summary: What a great camera! It does everything I've asked of it so far and I haven't even begun to explore all the special features and functionalities. It is amazing. If you want a few weekend snaps, this camera might not be for you - but if you need a versitile, multi-functional, adaptable machine, this is for you.
Summary: Have been using this camera for the last few weeks and it's an excellent camera thus far. Previously, I've had an A300, Canon XTi, and Nikon D5000, all of which were very good cameras too. However, this is quickly becoming my favorite camera of the bunch. The build quality seems very good and the picture quality is awesome. Its heft and size feels nicely in my hand too; the other ones are smaller and lighter by comparison. That is all.
Summary: I have had my a500 for a few months and am very happy with my purchase. This is a great camera for someone wishing to switch from advanced point-and-shoot to full d-SLR. The menus are intuitive, and this camera is generally easy to use. It has some nice features like HDR imaging, manual live focus, and an amazing live view. I tested this camera with Nikon and Canon models in the same price range and felt this was the superior product.
