Excerpt: My wife has had this camera for about two years now. It's a great entry into the DSLR world and has served us well. It does great outdoors, indoors in high light conditions, and in less light (not low light) conditions with excellent color rendition. That being said, it's not without faults, though they are minor. The autofocus can be somewhat irritatingly slow or nonexistent in medium light situations.
Happy with purchase, vendor and the whole E-Bay experience

Summary: excellent value overall. purchased Sony because of compatibility with Minolta lenses. After talking with a friend he bought the A500...that will be my next because of additional features. Seller was excellent and exceeded all expectations. this is a great 1st serious DSLR.
Excerpt: Sony hasn't had a long reputation in making digital single lense reflex camera's, but they are making waves now. Sony purchased their SLR technology from Konica Minolta who were long famous in the camera industry. Since this is a newer SLR camera, I have to mention the lack of video capability. It's unfortunate that this has not yet been added, but if you look at the implementations that Nikon has made, they are not very good.
Excerpt: Sony puts out a good product with this camera. Though it is one of the older models and things have changed alot since it has been put out, I would still recommend this camera for people who are looking for a relatively low priced DSLR. It is great for people who are just getting into photography and was something more substantial than a point and shoot camera. Even for more experienced photographers it is a good device.
Excerpt: We bought this camera around Christmas time as a gift to ourselves. We reviewed a lot of SLR cameras before we chose this camera. We wanted something practical, reasonable, easy to use and didn't want more of a camera then we would use. I use my camera almost daily and my point and shoot was on it's way out. This a great camera and takes wonderful pictures when you know what you are doing.
Excerpt: The Sony A230 DSLR camera was given to me as a mothers day present in 2010. It was not only my first DSLR camera, but my first digital camera I owned as well. I was expecting to have a lot of trouble converting from using my 35 mm camera to a digital, But I was really surprised at how easy it was for me to learn how to use. Going into the manual settings gives you all the definition's of the different things you can manually do. For example; the definition of ISO...
Excerpt: I have been photographing as a hobby for a few years now with a point-and-shoot camera. When time came for me to choose the DSLR that I wanted, I struggled between wanting a Canon or a Nikon. I read a bunch of reviews and came to the conclusion that what I really wanted was a Sony Alpha!
Summary: I bought this camera body used off another site. My initial motivation to picking a Sony Alpha was the compatibility with Minolta lenses, I have a Minolta Maxxum 7xi with a full complement of lenses and I hoped I would be able to use at least a few them. I checked into newer "digital" lenses, but decided to give my older lenses a try before putting out money on newer versions of what I already had.
Summary: Got the a230 as a backup body for my a65, and as a starer DSLR for my son. Excellent feature set and handling. Lightweight and easy to navigate menus make it a breeze to use. Would have loved to have live view. Works great with my collection of Sony, Minolta & Tamron A-mount lenses.
Summary: Had no previous experience with the Sony Alpha system of photography and with the possibility of converting Leica R lenses to use with Sony Alpha MOunt I had just one more reason to check it out . It turns out that the system is very competitive with all on its own . I knew and expected Sony excellence,a certain Sony signature of quality , and was not disappointed. Great colors. Smart arrangement of menus makes setting parameters a breeze .
