Excerpt: I purchased this camera recently as a replacement for my Alpha 100 which is dying a slow but certain death. I wasn't sure that I made the correct purchase when I ordered the camera since I did it on the spur of the moment in order to get a rebate being offered. I was quite surprised when the camera arrived right on schedule from BH Photo ( free shipping). I thought I was down sizing to a degree but this was only true in the size of the compactness of the camera.
Summary: There was nothing wrong with any of the products in this kit. Unfortunately the review led me to believe that although this camera wasn't a proper DSLR, it was a very high quality camera. I bought it as a starter camera for my sister but returned it and didn't give it to her. As soon as I held the camera in my hands I knew that this was a much lower quality than I had hoped. I took a few pictures and was not terribly pleased with the results.
Excerpt: I bought this camera with the kit lens when it was first introduced, I wanted an NEX mount to use strictly with my legacy lenses. I have nothing but good things to say about this camera especially since I have never been a Sony fan, the kit lens was a pleasant surprise and focus peeking with legacies is perfect, the pics are sharp with good color. Contrary to popular criticism about the EVF and 230K screen I find them quite adequate. Now I'm gunning for a 7R.
Excerpt: The Sony a3000 is a top quality current-gen entry-level MILC. The overall product quality is marred by Wireless remote compatibility restrictions, the lack of 4K/Ultra HD video support and a sub-par LCD screen. Outweighing the flaws, this product boasts 20.1 MP still image quality and a functionable UI for an unbeatable price.
Pros: Fast Shutter Speed, Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, High ISO Performance, Quiet
Summary: I love this camera! It is the first dslr I have ever owned and I am very pleased with it. My only complaint is that the display screen does not accurately show what the camera is taking a picture of, but the pictures turn out beautiful!
