Not as good as most people say

Sam, B&H Photo
31 March 2015
  • Excerpt: I heard many reports about the fast AF system, and how this was replacing some pro's DSLR. So, since I shoot a lot of sports and this was inexpensive relative to a DSLR with similar characteristics, I decided to try it. There is no way a professional sports photog would use this.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Fast Shutter Speed
  • Cons: Using An Oled Is Not Easy

  • Excerpt: I wasn't plan to write the review, but I saw most reviews from the web are good, but I find it differently, I brought the alpha 6000 in Dec. 2014. I can't return it...the battery is very bad.
  • Pros: Good in Low Light, Large Clear LCD, Light weight
  • Cons: Bad Customer Server, Lag / Shutter Delay, Short Battery Life, Shutter Sound Is Too Loud

They sent me a non-English camera that could not be changed.

Amazon Customer, Amazon
22 March 2015
  • Summary: Deal-Expo sent me the a camera in Japanese (I think). When I turned it on it I got a menu on the screen from which I could select two Kanji items. No other menus worked so there was no way to change the language.

  • Excerpt: Was this review helpful? |
  • Cons: LENS THAT CAME WITH THE KIT IS NOT VERY USEFUL. SHOULD HAVE SOMETHING INBETWEEN WHAT CAME IN THE KIT AND THE 2ND ZOOM THAT WAS RECOMMENDED TO ME. THE VIDEO BUTTON IS TOO SMALL AND THE 4 WAY ROCKER SWITCH IS TOO CLOSE TO WHERE YOUR HAND IS ON THE CAMERA. IT KEEPS DISPLAYING / CHANGING THE SET UP T...

The battery could damage your camera

Kristine, Amazon
24 February 2015
  • Summary: This is a nice little package. I was mainly attracted to it because of the SD card and the extra battery. However, the extra battery smells LITERALLY like burnt wood. I can no longer keep it in the camera pack as it makes all the other equipment smell the same.

not happy with this camera at all

  • Excerpt: There is a lot of things I did not like about this camera. First I was surprised at how many good reviews this camera has gotten. I imagine the sensor is what's the best about it. Unfortunately the rest of the camera doesn't fit the bill.
  • Cons: Lag / Shutter Delay, Poor in Low Light, Short Battery Life

Overheats, LCD flaky, focus soft

Frustrated, B&H Photo
7 December 2014
  • Excerpt: While I enjoy the form factor and the feature set, I would only trust it to take pictures of indoor pets. Every time I take it to the river to take pictures of the sunset the LCD screen blanks out when the camera is turned sideways, aka portrait orientation.
  • Pros: Great Resolution, Small / Compact
  • Cons: Lcd Flaky, Overheats, soft focus

Soft images

anarchist, B&H Photo
2 November 2014
  • Excerpt: Not sure if that was AF issue or the lens issue or it's just lens limitation but the images came out way too soft, as with defective AF. I can literally make better photos with my Xperia smart phone.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Fast Shutter Speed, Great Resolution, Small / Compact
  • Cons: Poor Image Quality, Poor in Low Light

ILCE-6000 Unrealized potential

Stuart B., Crutchfield
6 August 2014
  • Summary: I've had my A-6000 about a month, maybe 500 photos - and it is a camera with unrealized potential. After shooting back to a Pentax and Nikon F1- I find the absence of a manual very hard to manage - the camera behaves very well as a point and shoot, good quality photos with Lightroom corrections...
  • Pros: Good to excellent image quality with Lightroom lens corrections applied. Very light, well balanced, and very quiet. Remote operation from a cell phone open creative windows in time lapse and distance wildlife that were well beyond my budget.
  • Cons: No manual is unacceptable. I shoot wildlife and the camera just won't focus on birds in flight - the shutter just locks up and the body laughs at me. I'm reduced to manual focus for any moving shots. Finally they pointed out a foot note n a blog comment that says the fast auto focus is disabled a...
