Sigma DP2x

The Sigma DP2x is a compact digital camera featuring a 14 megapixel FOVEON X3® direct image sensor (2,652× 1,768× 3 layers) and is part of the company’s DP2 series model. It incorporates AFE (Analog Front End) and high speed auto focus which converts full color data recorded by the FOVEON X3® capture system into a digital signal and enables the camera to reproduce high definition and optimized colored images. The camera also incorporates a new noise reduction algorithm which reduces Chroma and Luminance noise when processing X3F files taken at ISO400 or more. It also features three metering modes, Evaluative Metering, Center Weighted Average Metering and Spot Metering; Program AE, Shutter Priority AE, Aperture Priority AE or Manual focusing; 1/3 stop increments from +3.0 to -3.0 stops exposure compensation; has auto bracketing function; and QS (Quick Set) menu, that allows users to access and change the most commonly used camera functions quickly. The DP2x is equipped with a pop up (manual) built-in flash that supports Normal, Red-Eye Reduction and Slow Synchro Mode, and has a 9 point focusing area, Movie Mode which records movies with QVGA (320x240) size at 30 frames per second, 7 types of the Color Modes which is adjust saturation, contrast, etc for each shooting situation (Portrait, Landscape, Vivid, Standard, Neutral, B&W or Sepia); a 2.5“ TFT Color LCD Monitor which displays 100% of the images; Hot Shoe which allows the use of the dedicated external flashgun EF-140 DG (optional) as well as Sigma electronic flashguns for SD series such as EF-610 DG SUPER and EF-610 DG ST; and comes with a dedicated lens hood (HA-21) to block out extraneous light and functions as an adapter designed to accept the 46mm Close-up Lens and 46mm filters. The camera measures 113.3mm/4.5in x 59.5mm/2.3in x 56.1mm/2.2in.

Features

The Sigma DP2x also features a new AF algorithm for high speed auto focus, a 14 megapixel (2,652×1,768×3 layers) direct image sensor with silicon that penetrates to different depths by different wavelengths of light and captures full RGB in a single-pixel location. The digital camera is powered by the “TRUE (Three-layer Responsive Ultimate Engine) II” image processing engine with its image-processing algorithm for high resolution power. This also reproduces high definition images with optimized graduated tones. Other features on the Sigma DP2x include AFE (Analog Front End) which converts the color data, which full-color capture systems record, to a digital signal and enables the camera to reproduce high definition images; 24.2mm F2.8 lens (which is equivalent to 41mm on a 35mm SLR camera) constructed with two high refractive index glasses and two molded glass aspherical; Super Multi Layer Coating which reduces flare and ghosting; an aperture of F2.8 for natural shallow depth-of-field and bokeh effect; support for JPEG recording format with a RAW data (X3F) recording mode for retaining full image capture detail; and comes with image processing software, “Sigma Photo Pro ”, which converts RAW data quickly.
