The Sigma DP2s is a digital camera that is powered by a 20.7×13.8mm (0.8 inch×0.5 inch) FOVEON X3® Direct Image Sensor (CMOS), and is supported by a lens that provides users with 14.06MP (2652×1768×3 layers) images at 3:2 aspect ratio. The focal length on the lens is 24.2mm F2.8 (35mm equivalent focal length:41mm) and is constructed in 6 groups and 7 elements. It has a shooting range of 28cm ~ ∞ (Full Mode), and is supported by an SD card slot that is also compatible with SDHC,Multi Media Card. The Sigma DP2s supports lossless compression RAW data (12-bit), JPEG(High, Wide, Medium, Low), Movie (AVI), Voice memo to still image (10 sec./30 sec.), and Voice recording (WAV); QVGA 320×240 (30 frames per second) video recording, up to ISO 3200 sensitivity, 1/2000-15second shutter speed, built-in flash, a 2.5 inch TFT Color LCD Monitor with 230K color support, and the following interfaces: USB (USB2.0), Video Out (NTSC/PAL), and Audio Out (Monaural). The Sigma DP2s is powered by a lithium-ion battery that provides users with up to 250 shots on a single charge. It measures 113.3mm/4.5" × 59.5mm/2.3" ×56.1mm/2.2" and weighs 260g/9.2oz (excluding batteries and card).

Features

The Sigma DP2s is a digital camera that features a 4MP FOVEON X3 CMOS sensor and features new AF algorithm for optimized autofocus, a Power Save mode and a slightly revised rear design with more visible labeling of the buttons. Equipped with an SLR-sized image sensor, the digital camera is capable of reproducing the dynamism and 3-D feel of a subject. The len’s aspherical glass-mold construction also minimizes aberration variation, and a super-multilayer coating reduces ghosting and flare. Some of the DP2 lens elements are also hyperchromatic, which enables chromatic aberrations to be corrected to a large extent, without impacting other aberrations. It is this feature that allows for the wide-open aperture. Other features on the Sigma DP2s includes TRUE II image processing technology, which is a proprietary algorithm for 3-D rendering power, optimizing both in-camera image processing quality and speed; noise reduction at higher sensitivities suppressed by a new proprietary algorithm and automatic exposure, focus and white balance functionality that has been tweak to optimize the camera’s overall performance.
