Excerpt: But according to it functionality and capacity to make great photos and videos (which i think is the most important) its fine but it is still lacking on some areas like improvement on picture quality and battery life. Well thank goodness I got it on sale almost 60% off so, it is still a good buy. But if I’m going to buy it on its regular price well, I may not have it as my camera. Because its regular price is almost the price of other top branded digital cameras.
Summary: I purchased this camera because I wanted a slim, easy to pocket camera to take pictures on our vacation. I am disabled, so I can't carry things with the use of my walker. I used the camera at home the days before we left, and discovered that it had been dropped, and a connection was shorting out to the battery. Not only did I lose the money spent on e-bay, but I still had to purchase another camera.
Summary: My husband and I bought this camera on a whim before a short road trip March, 2008. I was a bit skeptical as I've never owned any sanyo products before. However, the photos are very good quality; it's got tons of features, and it takes video to boot (built in mic). As I've said, had mine almost a year and a half now and it's still going strong, haven't even had to replace the battery yet. Love this camera.
Summary: The VPC-E870 has a problem with being extremely flimsy. This is unfortunate as it comes with so many features and is incredibly priced. Also the pictures are quite good. After 8 months I put in an alternate usb line to transfer pictures ... I pressed in the cord ... (did I press it in too hard or something ) as the power suddenly went out. It is just too flimsy. I will send a note to Sanyo as well. I reccommend spending a bit more on a better built camera.
Summary: This is a nice small camera that fits in a pocket or purse. It feels solid. The battery lasts a long time, which is uncommon for these small cameras. The pictures are of very nice quality. But the best is the ability to shoot video. It is in AVI format which can be easily shared. The facial recognition, red eye reduction, and stabilizer are all very nice features. I have just been very pleased with this camera!
Summary: We purchased this camera for my mother for christmas. We like everybody else we did most of our shopping thanksgiving weekend. My mother loved it when she opened at our christmas get together 12-26. March 1st it would not turn on. Walmart's warranty is only for 30 days, but they did check the battery and it was fine, so they gave us the Sanyo 800 number which my mother called twice never could get a live person and left a message both times.
