Excerpt: This is a 7x zoom, and it fits in my shirt pocket. It feels solid, the features are easily accessible but its viewer is the pits ! Sunlight is the ennemy of that camera ! I took some shots guessing, but they are very acceptable! with brightness and contrast ajusted in Picasa
Summary: I bought my original Samsung PL200 camera specifically for the 7x zoom. Which is really good for a compact digital camera. I have a Samsung Plasma TV that is great so I figured their camera would be great too..and the price was under $110 with tax. I was not disappointed.
Summary: Been using this camera since Christmas eve and we're already looking for something else. The picture quality is crap. We love the size and ease of use, zoom is great, but it's all moot if it doesn't take good pictures.
Summary: I bought this as a possible replacement / upgrade for my rather bulky Canon A630. It does seem to outperform my old Canon in almost every way, with the one exception of videos in very low light. Under most conditions, it performs better than I expected for the price.
Summary: The Samsung pl200 is a compact little beauty with amazing zoom ability, great picture quality, is well constructed feeling very solid in my hand, takes great pictures and is very affordable, and best of all is compatible with both mac and pc.
Summary: This Camera takes excellent pictures! I had a samsung before and love it. This one is even better than the last samsung I owned. The pictures are always clear. The smart default works GREAT, I have just left it on this and the results have been great every time!
Summary: March 9, 2011 - Final update: Upgraded to four stars after chatting with Samsung support. The camera HAS 7x optical, verified by more optical-only pictures taken with Canon A710 and the Samsung. It does NOT have Intelli zoom, whatever that is. (Intelli zoom is available in the successor - PL210.
Summary: I was choosing between several cameras. After days of comparing all the specs and prices, I chose Samsung PL200. All in all, it's very user friendly, nice bright 3" screen, compact and thin enough, and all the bells and whistles (5cm macro, adequate wide angle, wide focal range, 14MP, etc.
